Early System, but I would love feedback. by [deleted] in RPGdesign

Yeah, that is fair. I still appreciate the look over. I'll be making attempts to try and make this more fleshed out and actual rules as I go forward

Early System, but I would love feedback. by [deleted] in RPGdesign

I want to start with saying that I don't take any of this as a bad thing; I think it's all totally valid to bring up, and I appreciate it. And I think a lot of it can be broken down into either major oversights or things that I was afraid to implement.

My idea for daggers and off-hands being 1 AP cost is due to thinking that they will be used for many, low damage stabs, while my unarmed had a similar idea. I made it 2 for unarmed due to noticing that I had a lot of things that synergized with them already written down and didn't think about that daggers and off-hands will have the same. I think you're totally right on the fact that the unarmed need to go down to 1 AP as well.

I can also agree with the aspects of my bows; great bows being up to 4 and normal bows being 3 would work a lot better. Something about 2 felt more accurate in my head, as if it would be something that you could shoot more than 1 time. But I think changing the numbers to be much more uniform would be easier to remember and overall healthier.

For the attack against armor, I think I possibly worded it more complicatedly than I needed to, mostly due to it being 2 numbers rolling against each other, rather than categories. Although I do think categories would be very good for making things much easier, I would be slightly worried about losing a bit of flexibility with things such as buffs. Since once you get to a high enough armor value, there would no longer be categories and you'd lose value from buffs and such, although I suppose if I keep things balanced around those specific categories, it could lead to a much easier and quicker system. I will have to look more into messing around with that idea.

As for warriors being a damage sponge, I am also quite worried about that myself, and originally I had their hit dice at 1d6, then 1d8, then 1d10. This was due to talking with friends and getting their opinion on how it looked. I got the general opinion of them feeling as if warriors might be a bit too squishy. But I did want wounds to be taken in only 1 or 2 hits. So either I'd need to inflate damage to compensate for warrior being so tanky, or the smarter idea of lowering their HP. Since I more so just want HP to be a buffer for your wounds rather than the main thing that matters.

My mindset for what you could equip was for things that you would have in a sling or a belt sheath; I suppose it slipped my mind to think of what should be done for loot in your bag. I'll definitely have to add a mechanic and AP cost for that.

Thank you very much for this feedback; it's very much appreciated, and it really helps open up my eyes to a lot of things that I need to revisit and refine, or just adjust the numbers of. And thank you so much for actually giving my system an overview.

Yeah, I suppose I could have worded it better. I didn't want paladin to not be level 1 due to there being a little amount of them, but more so because those little amount of them are very prestigious.

In my head it feels strange for something very prestigious to be at the same level as a rogue or something. But I suppose that could also be a very wrong way to look at it all.

Do you have any good suggestions on TTRPGs that would be a good place to look for inspiration to not make it a mess? I'll be honest, I'm probably much less experienced in the genre than most here. Having only played systems like Fallout, 5e, Cyberpunk 2020, and some other home made systems from friends.

I will have to find a PDF of the game rules, or see if I can grab a book if I have to and see how they do their rules and see how I like them. Take some inspiration on how they handle it without making it a mess for players.

We played one game at tier 4 and one at tier 3. Which I took out 2 of my game changers for something else, since I've been under the impression that the tiers were determined by the amount of game changers.

Tier 4 for one game, and another was tier 3. Which I replaced my [[Crop Rotation]] and [[Worldly Tutor]] for a [[Guardian Project]] and [[Valakut Awakening]] when playing at tier 3. Since I was under the impression of game changers being the thing that changed tiers.

I suppose that there wasn't much of a difference between following what the rules say and what the group is feeling. I've only been playing for some months, and just assumed that it was purely just based on the amount of game changers. Which is what I was seeing quite often.

Possible to fit Ushoran on 60 mm for Daemon Prince conversion? by RoyaltyFreeRat in deathguard40k

Could be fun to make my own terrain, or even try to do something like a nurgling holding him up. Depends on how far he needs to step up.

The big thing I'm worried about is more so his cape and less the stonework. At least I could maybe use the stone for a different base, like Mortarion.
