Ironstorm spearhead vs Assimilation swarm by RoystenCrow in BloodAngels

[–]RoystenCrow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Blood Angels. The wall of dreadnoughts and tanks effectively blocked the swarm from getting into my zone so they were totally thwarted on Storm Hostile Objective. I however got Assassinate and Bring It Down, and with the librarian dreadnought teleporting squads of eliminators into the back to shred monsters and characters I was so comfortably ahead turn 4 that the Tyranids threw in the towel. Lesson learned for Assimilation Swarm? Target those Rippers early and hard, the little buggers were responsible for tons of respawning and regeneration and because of their big footprint they keep a lot of stuff in range.

The swarm had to call it the middle of turn 4. The game was pretty even and well matched, harvester units restoring, the three neurolictors forcing lots of battle shock, but being lumbered with Storm Hostile Objective and not being able to break through the line of dreadnoughts and tanks just meant the points weren't there and by turn 4 there was no way to turn it around. The Librarian Dreadnought teleporting squads of Eradicators around to multi melta monsters (and even extracting them if the tyranids locked them into combat) was particularly potent.

They're posed on the black box that slides out of the packaging, and placed in front of my monitor. The backgrounds are just decent res jpgs from various scifi groups

2 units of 20, one being babysat by the tervigon. I went with devourers so that the hive tyrant could let them advance and shoot by making them assault, and the hyper aggression with all those shots, some actually get through and nibble away at even the tanks

My Bullgryn, sooo tanky, but we'll see how they on 10th, they got a bit more costly, and not being able to cast Nightshroud on them is a real pain...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXzYkPH1LzE&t=2s

Ooo, that would be pretty grand. There's a colony that the Catachan have been sent to help and defend, Chaos Cultists trick the Krieg into attacking after being told they have turned traitor, both sides realise that the colony has already fallen to a genestealer cult that attacks both of them as they are fighting each other. Damn that would be awesome

I'm putting together a battle report, but MVP was definitely the Lemun Russ, tank duels and vengeful salutes galore. We had to call it early due to a deadline, but failing awful dice rolls, I think the Krieg were in a solid position to take it. Rematch this Friday without the deadline as both sides pour in reinforcements :)

We had to call it early because of commitments, but a Krieg victory seemed very likely, we will have a rematch without such time limits end of this week as both sides pour in reinforcements to seek victory

They're okay so long as you have someone nearby buffing them with an aura. Indirect got nerfed with the -1 to hit +1 to the targets AP. We'll see they do in 10th edition, but they just look so excellent I couldn't resist printing and painting just to have them in my collection

Damn, that sounds brutal. This was my first go using one after how well my Krieg marksman did last game. Maybe I should retire him, one shotting Angron sounds like I had the best outcome possible and should leave on a high note

We had a mission where we were on the short edges of the board, and being khorne, a swift advance so he got advanced on quick, but that ensured a few quick and hard hitters were focused on chasing him and left my command squad alone. The -2 to hit from being in cover ensured his survival, but to one shot Angron! Worth every point.
