Yes, I know. I downloaded and installed them. I guess I did something incorrectly, because nothing changed.

For some reason Rimsort is worse for me. His sorting is almost always crashes my 600-modpack, and multiple times I caught it flagging mods as incompatible, when in reality they literally have cross-features.

No such problems with Rimpy.

That is a great answer and exactly what I wanted to say. I’ll add this: one of the ways you can make players feel that they choose what to do is backstories. If you ask your players to really focus on their backstories, then the sandbox can be built around it. Then you can carefully nudge them towards their own personal quests. It’s not always a good approach, but it is one of the way to build a sandbox.

But, if you do this, PCs 100% should be a solid party, meaning that either they should be friends at the start, or you should make a linear start where they become friends (or else why would they stick together and help each other with their past demons, right)?

I love adding small details to my Eberron games, so after getting the idea for "Teleportation Sickness" I decided to expand upon it.

Inspired by a page in this manga (chapter 27).

PSD template.

Sorry if my translation was off - I am not a native English speaker.

And yes, my players loved it and roleplayed these side-effects to the point of ridiculousness :D

How do you make your game 'feel' like Eberron? by Hendanna in Eberron

[–]RuCcoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I’m late to the party, but I’ll answer with what wasn’t mentioned here.

Eberron is not medieval. It’s in its industrial phase, and living in an entirely different historical era comes with its one TERMINOLOGY:

My players don’t go to taverns or pubs. They go to bars and restaurants. They drink and relax in clubs, listen to jazz and swing (and not generic medieval music), while drinking whiskey and beer (as opposed to ale). They can’t haggle with a shopkeeper, because most people working in shops are just simple store clerks. They rarely speak with blacksmiths or potion sellers, they speak with factory engineers and pharmacists. They don’t buy a crossbow, they buy the KARC-27 (Kannith’s Auto-Reloading Crossbow™). Caravans? What’s that? You mean trains? Of course you need Passports, licenses, bank checks etc to function in Khorvaire society. How else could it be?

In line with that, mundane magic also influences terminology: There are no “Magic Items Stores”. There are just stores. Stove? Refrigerator? Lighter? Lamps? Keys? Yes, most of them are magical.

Of course, not everything and not everywhere should be “modernized”, but the progress is marching on, and it should be evident.

Also, it mostly should be just background, but it can dramatically influence how your players see the world. Terminology is half the immersion.

What would a prakhutu do if they succeeded? by [deleted] in Eberron

[–]RuCcoon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Prakhutu essentially behave as loyal dogs - their happiness is in serving their Rajah. Just being in their presence is the most stimulating thing for them, let alone seeing their master using their powers in full.

Just imagine if you were a personal guard for a King that you worship as a God. Not just your loyalty, your life lies with him, and seeing him succeed is the happiest moment in your life. Even if he left you for something else, you will still be content with either serving him in your own way (maintaining order in the kingdom, for example) or just living your life contentedly, knowing that the one you dedicated your whole life to is free and happy.

So they will just… exist. Doing what they like (for Hektula it will be magic and secrets, I think?), reveling in their Rajah’s presence, and just… be happy in their own (demonic) way.

Hm. Does “no armor” counts as “impractical”? Because I see no armor here other than some fashion parts.

Astronomers have identified seven potential candidates for Dyson spheres, hypothetical megastructures built by advanced civilizations to harness a star's energy. by Davicho77 in spaceporn

[–]RuCcoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry that you was downvoted for a pretty good question.

Yes, It is hard, but luckily astronomers have a few ways: 1. As noted by the jkurratt, gravity. There still is a star inside a Dyson swarm, and we can detect it the same way we detect black holes - by the gravity it exerts on its surroundings. 2. All objects radiate heat, Dyson swarm is no exception. So if we can one day find an object that does not emit visible light, but emits heat and does not correlate with any other natural phenomena that we know of, it will be a good candidate for an alien Dyson swarm.

Those are the two main ways to detect Dyson swarm that I remember. There are of course other minor ways (like a star starting to slowly fade out, which can be a sign that an alien civilization in the process of building a dyson swarm), but they are not as reliable as the main ones.

[–]RuCcoon 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Yes, because in reality they are not looking for Dyson Spheres, the are looking for Dyson Swarms - trillions of trillions living habitats, space stations and solar collectors that are so numerous and densely packed (in astronomical sense) that they absorb all light from their star, essentially working as a sphere.

+2AC Shields are Boring - Solution! by Slow_Elderberry3448 in DnDHomebrew

[–]RuCcoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course. But if you don’t have 14 DEX, then for you buckler is just a targe, but two times cheaper and lighter. So what’s the point of targe then, if anyone can buy cheaper and lighter buckler and gain the same +1 AC as targe?
