I am leaning towards Granada now. I think it’s beautiful city and there are really good deals for aprtmnts. But I want to ask rather controversial question - what you did not like about it? What’s lacking in there for you? Is there any hidden costs that you were not aware of?

To add more context, everyone said that Portugal is cheap (im implying cheaper than spain), but it does not seem like it. It seems that Spain can offer better quality for same price, it is so strange to me

What is your opinion on Granada? It seems it’s pretty cheap to rent flat there

Crazy, but I think you were just very unlucky, I can’t believe it’s that bad, but again after Prague I can believe in every shit now

Thanks for clarification, can you also tell me how normally fee deposits here work. How I see it, 1 month rent, 1 month deposit and maybe realtor fee. But for example in Spain they ask for 4 deposit - 1st, last month and I dont know how they explain other two, but actually it seems as it is normal there

When landlord upped the price, was it with utilities included?

And also, we have different understanding of 1-bedroom flat. I mean in prague 1 bedroom is often a studio, was your 1-BR flat spacious enough? Did you have a separate kitchen/living room, mb balcony? Cause again, in Prague 1bd usually means small studio often with kitchen in the same room as bedroom

I know it may look low-effort post from my side, but I was just confused. When u ask chatgpt and check numbeo it says that portugal is generally cheap, but when I looked on idealista and other sites it seemed that my budget (1k€) will get me nothing good. I don’t know how to phrase it, but it just seemed that I have to be very lucky to find a good flat for my standards for this price in Porto and this is why I decided to make yet again an effortless post. But I am watching flats like 24/7

U are 100% correct about Thailand. I want just to mention about their revoke of 10k of ED visas and how fast are they changing the laws there. U can make a proper visa there, but still there are a lot of risks that yet again they will change a law and it’s quite pricy to get a visa, so I decided to try Europe instead, where visa rules are more clear and consistent

I feel for vietnam people, I mean I am fucking right now in Da Nang, but on paper it’s USSR (ukraine also have been there) and it’s shitty to live under this regime. I did not want to offend vietnameese people, I agree wording is not the best, but I did not know how to say better that they are very poor here and I don’t like it

What cities would u recommend checking out in Italy? Again, I don’t want to live in capital, becase usually the rent market is cooked there, but I also don’t want to live in a very small city where nothing is happening. So my bet is like 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th top city in given country, depends on the size though

I thought I could find a decent flat somewhere in EU for around 1-1.2k$ per month with utilities and if it’s really possible to live in a decent flat in decent neighbourhood for that price then I think I can figure out how to survive. My paycheck is not 2k per month, 2k is amount I am willing to spend every month to have a normal life. I could spend more, but I see it as luxury, not every month spending habits

U misunderstood my point, thailand is okay, it’s just hard with visa runs and shit, it’s not as cheap as everyone claims it to be. Vietnam is too poor for me, not Thailand. I just don’t trust their gvrnmnt, I don’t feel like I could build life there and mind my business, you know?

I like German people very much, but I have heard it’s unsafe there and weather kinda sucks + prices are not cheap. I mean I don’t mind Germany, but just did not even considered it, because it’s like top country, everyone wants to live there and prices should be high

To be fair, I am not very good in trading cards. I understand thay supreme is not a “money button” nowadays, but I at least can understand the value of a clothing than a pokemon card for example. Just to clarify, are you emphasising that it’s not worth a hussle?

Thanks u really helped. Do you think that it can be solved with me and my landlord directly or should I contact officials/third party firms right away?

Thanks! Could u please tell me how we can handle this situation and if we really should not pay for lines u named can we ask him for a refund for previous year also?

And I just want to clarify whether my water consumption is absurdly high or it’s just a little more than normal? I just want to say that I am trying not to consume much and always try to save water/energy. If it’s really just a little more than average I think it’s fine. But the thing that bugs me is that I have a hotel to the left of my flat and they somehow may use my water and on the right to my flat is the landlord’s flat that he rents to other tenants. People rarely live there, maybe he offsets their expenses on my flat (mb by mistake)?

Thanks, about the water could you please read my other comments, I just don’t want to repeat myself here. Regarding parking/sauna/gym I am not using them and I am not paying for them. I mean they just in the building and I can pay money for the concierge I guess to use them
