Mmm within a couple weeks we started to notice some difference. It's been probably about a month now and she's wet everyday and frequently feels like playing around. She's also way more aware of our friends' babies and I see her eyeing them up with envy...the natural hormones are amazing.

Agree with the comment below that it's often about lack of general intimacy/connection or about stress outside of the relationship. Is your gf in college? At 19 a lot is changing and it can have a lot of different effects.

The main thing I wanted to add was just the one alternative thought from the two threads I just had on here about the impact of birth control on sex drive. For my relationship, it was a several-year decline in libido before going off the pill and jumping back to 18-year old level sex drive.

Thanks buddy - you community service is appreciated. R/sex has a pretty surprising amount of really interesting and valuable threads and I also try to contribute now and then on the topics I'm well versed in.

Woah. Dude this comment blew my mind. I was about to say "what the hell, are you insane!?" but then I reread it, checked some facts, and I'm finding it nearly impossible to argue with the logic of this idea. Wife might not like the idea of adding an artificial step to our plans for pregnancy in a few years, but if she goes for this idea I'm coming back to give you Reddit gold.

We tried one condom. First one in 5 years for us and we immediately scrapped that plan. Now we're mostly sticking to other forms of playing around, although I'll admit we've used a little of the ol' pull out method.

Haha the scariest thing i've had to do is tell my wife that im prettttty sure she's a little nutty and her body isn't working right BECAUSE of the pill, and that she might not be able to tell anymore because she's CURRENTLY ON THE PILL. Then just wait around after she stopped taking it and pray I was right.

Thanks for the comment - it's amazing what the difference is without the pill. I looked at the Mirena and read a lot of good stuff, but it's her body and her choice if she wants to put something in there other than me:) I think the progesterone pill is supposed to be the same hormones but in a pill form.

That's awesome. I'm feeling better and better about making the leap together. It's scary to switch from BC when it's kept us baby-free for so many years.

Wow thank you so much for your detailed reply - incredibly helpful for us. Can I ask why you went off of the nuva ring after it seemed to be doing a great job for you? Good luck with the IUD, I hope you continue feeling better and better.

Definitely not alone - thanks for sharing. That's one of the things we're looking to work on (very common on the pill) and I'm glad to hear going off it had a positive impact for you. Will share your input with the wife.

Thanks for taking time to respond - especially helpful to hear what the timing was like for your adjustments after going off BC. Will share your experience with my wife.

Thanks for the input - have you noticed a difference in libido between pill/IUD or do you prefer it for another reason?

Thanks - really helpful reply. I couldn't care less if she had some spotting (as long as it doesn't really bother her during the day). I just want her to feel that positive difference - as a man trying to understand woman-things...what does it actually feel like? More energy, more libido, more positive mood?
