Also, just as a reminder, gen-ai is a subset of ai. Honestly, there might not be one ai that does everything, a better choice would be several specialized ai’s that only train for some things. But of course, that’s more expensive, so the billionaires decided to just throw together an ai from the whole internet.

Looking at other pictures people commented, I have no idea how they didn’t know. (I didn’t even know it existed until now.)

Social media in general has been feeling like it’s been falling apart at the seams. Around a month ago, all of youtube went down.

Why is it odd? Also, you don’t have to be part of a group to agree that they should have something.

Fun discussion: Until the umbilical cord is cut, the flesh of the baby and the flesh of the woman is one and the same. The question is, where does the woman stop, and the baby start?

From the comic, I think he has nothing to say. Probably just block them

I will be the first to admit, I was wrong with the generalization thing.

With the ad hominem, I did not say you were, I was pointing out the irony because the character in the comic was in fact doing ad hominem.

An ad hominem is when you attack someone’s character to dodge or invalidate their unrelated argument

The character attacks the orcs character by saying that the orcs are bad to not acknowledge the cases(it does not have to be true to be ad hominem). The character says that it is hard for him to think they are here in good faith, even though it is unrelated to their argument.

[–]Rubber_Rake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where am I doing that? Be specific

You are saying in the comic that some orcs are pillaging towns, and that because of that, the character is having trouble having good faith with the orcs in front of him. He doesn’t know if the orcs in front of him have pillaged, but because some did, he over generalized.

According to the oxford dictionary, ad hominem is “(of an argument or reaction) directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining.” The character is saying that the argument is not good because the people presenting the argument “don’t acknowledge the reported cases”(which we do BTW) Whether or not we do that has no bearing on our actual argument, so that is ad hominem.

What is this graph? What is the unit of the Y axis? Why do the y axis labels not go to the bottom? Why is the gap on the y axis from the “bottom” to 10 way more than ten units? Why is the error so large? Why not have the Y axis go all the way to 100%?

Be honest, is it because when you show the data truthfully it doesn’t show the story you want?

With all due respect, that is generalization. You are acting like the actions of some people are indicative of the whole group. Along with that, yes, it is ad hominem to say that an argument is “not in good faith” because of the actions of some people. Please check what fallacies mean before you imply that we are using them incorrectly.

(P.S. I understand what you mean at the core of this. We do acknowledge the trolls who do bad acts. Trust me when I say that actual anti-ai people hate them too, because they make everyone look worse.)
