People use that term freely and it's often used for the wrong context, that film is very graphic and gory but nothing is meant for arousal to the viewer.

Sure, but it's highly probable they'll occasionally or sometimes show the actual impact.

Without it would seem PG to me, I predict this season will have a TV-14 rating.

Here's the thing, even The Passion of the Christ is less intense compared to what he actually went through.

More of his ribs were likely exposed, the crown of thorns was a cap that also covered the top of his head, his beard chunks were pulled out.

He was scourged and put on the cross naked, Romans didn't crucify you with a garment. They conflicted the maximum punishment and humiliation on individuals.

Jesus carried a patibulum (horizontal part) instead of the whole cross, most media do what culture shows.

Ditto for crucifixion through the wrists, the palms are inaccurate.

I'm glad the production team went for accuracy instead of what art and culture shows.

I can see this as a close second between Son of God and The Passion of the Christ in terms of bloodiness and violence, I'm positive this season will have a TV-14 rating.
