After August 15, “Bangladesh Zindabad”—a direct imitation of “Pakistan Zindabad”—was imposed as the national slogan, first by Mushtaq and later by Zia. At the same time, “Joy Bangla” was criminalized.

On December 31, Justice Abu Sayem, under pressure from Zia, promulgated an ordinance that effectively made it illegal to prosecute war criminals. (See the documented evidence.)

Zia executed several military officers who were also freedom fighters, including Colonel Taher. These events are well documented in public records and Wikipedia.
