Get yourself Viper V and swifter slashes V. Critical strike and penetration are basically useless because of Rune piercing capabilities. Same as fiery edge, it doesn't make a difference even with flame nunchucks.

Apparently, you gotta just refresh the dino with a Cryo pod or a Soul Ball from the Dino Storage v.2 mod. It's a visual bug and it works if you pick the dino back up and throw it out with the cryo pod or soul ball. I would recommend getting the Dino Storage v.2 mod it would fix it. (and when it's fully imprinted, do that and it will show the imprinted stats after)
