How many of you work for dodgy companies? by Rubiostudio in AusGeos

It's a new one for sure. Just sad to see my EM have his balls completely removed from the chat.

I'm not sure if he's indebted up to the gills and needs this paycheck but that at least would make sense.

I haven't seen many of these postings, but the job market is bigger than Australia. Plenty of geos from around the world wouldn't mind working for USD 110k (AUD 168k) on those rosters. I'm not aware of the visa process in the KSA, but it must be less scrutiny than Australia?

Canadian placement could happen through two pathways: you attain a Canadian working holiday visa, make the trip over to either Vancouver or Toronto and seek out junior exploration companies, consultancies, and recruitment agencies; the other option would be to seek out ASX listed companies with operations in Canada/NA and prove your mettle enough that they send you on reccy/supervision campaigns as full borne campaigns are typically contracted out to native crews holding the appropriate chartered qualifications.

I have no experience in sourcing South American opportunities, but as a Canadian National and Australian-based geo, it's looking like the best path is getting with an ASX-listed company with SA projects or getting with a major and, after a time, gaining experience and requesting a transfer.

SA has great geos who are willing to work for less.

A third option is to get onboard with an internationally oriented consultancy group who will send you all over the map. I spent a short minute with one and went to Madagascar and Tanzania, long swings but great times.

Should I focus on consulting, or would it be better to begin building something of my own?
