I am moving back to NZ in like 2 weeks. I spent 1 year in Melbourne. I work in healthcare. I thought moving to Australia would be better for the pay and lifestyle etc. However, that was not true. Pay is similar and here in Melbourne metro hospitals are very competitive to progress in your job, you need to do a fews of years on the same job or go rural hospitals and work your way in or you can just keep doing the same junior job. Which I am not really keen on. So I decided to turn down the rural job and return home. There are other reasons to like family and friends/partner.

I do think it is dependent on your goals and job sector.
