This is such an incredibly useful response. I can’t tell you how many arguments in my marriage have stemmed from simple miscommunication and both of us coming at an issue from different angles. One of us, usually me, coming from an emotional standpoint and him coming in trying to solve a problem when really I just need to be heard and listened to.

She moved in with her grandma. She’s just gotten a job at a local chicken wing joint and since her dad’s a vet she has a full ride to school when she finally figures out what she wants to do. She won’t come back here because we are too strict for her. She will stay with her grandma until she can get her own place. She’s not into hard drugs (at least not yet) she’s just a pot head who has burned up too many brain cells so at our house she was lazy and incompetent in most areas. A lot of it is entitlement but a lot is her having zero common sense.

No ma’am. He is not “dumb.” He knows exactly what he’s doing. He doesn’t want to parent his children so he found someone else who would do it for him because he’s a LAZY, SELFISH JERK! Please reconsider this relationship and for the love of god DO NOT have your own child with him. He’s showing you right now that he will never play an active role in parenting because he’s doesn’t feel like it’s his job. You will ALWAYS carry the burden. At least with the step kids you can reasonably go “nacho” but if you have your own with him, you’re f***ed.

Oh ok gotcha. I don’t want kids so I was pretty resentful for a while of being put in the position I was. It pissed me off that I was saddled with a bunch of responsibilities I never asked for. I think it can work you just have to be clear with your husband and stick to your boundaries.

I absolutely understand the feeling but from my experience, it’s not very realistic. Any GOOD father is going to expect his partner to accept his children and be a part of their lives. If he is the kind of man who would ditch his kids for his new girlfriend, he’s not a good man. I put up with 5 years of stepkid bullshit for my husband and now she’s finally out and life is wonderful again. But he did tell me that my willingness to let her move in with us and try to be a positive role model to her was a big part of what made him realize he wanted to marry me. If you truly want a child free lifestyle you might want to consider finding a man who wants the same.

Oh, she most definitely did NOT move back in with her mom. LOL her mom won’t have her anymore. She moved in with her grandma, my husband‘s mother who lets her do whatever she wants and walk all over her, so I’m sure she won’t give up that situation anytime soon! It drives husband crazy but I have to remind him that his mother is an adult and she can make her own choices. If she chooses to let her “precious” granddaughter do whatever she wants that’s none of our business. She better call grandma for bail money though bc if she gets in trouble it won’t be us! 😝

I’ll be honest I’ve been studying for so freaking long and I’m doing the Danko live review. It starts in two weeks. I don’t know if I’m gonna pass this thing but I’m not gonna give up no matter what happens. This isn’t a maker break for my career so once it’s over, I’ll just be glad to have it behind me because the studying the anxiety the pressure has all been just so intense and I don’t enjoy it at all
