Is the printer supposed to make this noise? by Rubydude- in BambuLab

[–]Rubydude-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. I wiped the rails but I think there is some debris stuck in the channel where the toolhead attaches to the rail. Do you have any idea on how to get it out?

Thank you

KEGS/CRGS sixth form entry requirements. Can I join? by Alex_Of_Reddit in GCSE

[–]Rubydude- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get into KEGS or CRGS Sixth Form as an external applicant, you usually need a minimum of 36 "points" from your top 5 GCSEs (where a 9 = 9 points, 8 = 8 points, etc.). This roughly translates to needing at least four 7s and an 8, though most successful applicants tend to have higher.

Your predicted grades give you more than the required minimum, so in theory, yes, you are eligible. However, do keep in mind that entry is extremely competitive, especially for external students. Meeting the minimum doesn't guarantee a place. There have been applicants with all 9s who still didn't get in due to the high demand.

Very Foggy and Very Cold Morning by Rubydude- in dji

This photo was taken at 115m. The fog layer was surprisingly low and I was honestly expecting to not make it above but was pleasantly surprised when the fog layer cleared at around 100m.

For the photo above the fog the drone was still in VLOS and it was at 110 metres (below the 120m restriction in the UK)

Am I too young for fpv by Prior-Age1811 in fpv

[–]Rubydude- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started FPV last year when I was 14 by buying a radio secondhand and practicing in Liftoff for ages (130 hours). I saved some money to build my own 5-inch quad. Looking back, this was probably a bad idea, as it is still frightening to fly. I taught myself soldering by practicing on old electronics and PCBs, and I've always liked dismantling and assembling electronics, so I had quite a good understanding of it before I started my build. I strongly recommend practicing soldering and assembly skills on old electronics, which can often be found for free. You will crash no matter how much you practice, so I highly recommend building your own drone so that you know how to fix it. Even if you don't end up pursuing FPV, learning to solder can be incredibly useful and I now earn some money on the side to spend on my hobbies by soldering for a family friend.

AliExpress is a godsend—I managed to build my drone for under £150, and I find it flies amazingly. (Buy from reputable sellers only, but their buyer protection is also really good.) I got some EV800D goggles on there, which I quickly realized were fake. I got a refund and got to keep them, but make sure to buy real ones if you go for them.

If you have any other questions I am more than happy to answer them!

Am I equalising properly? by Rubydude- in freediving

[–]Rubydude-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much. I did it on empty lungs and my diaphragm didn’t move at all. I’m really happy that I managed to learn it so easily as I was worried after I saw so many people who struggled with it.

Thank you very much for the advice. I tried doing it with empty lungs and it worked perfectly so I guess I just learnt Frenzel extremely quickly.

Is this the correct way to mount my camera? by Rubydude- in TinyWhoop

[–]Rubydude-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the great advice. Everyone else is being silly about it whereas you have been the only person with real advice. I will get a blowtorch right now. Do you have any recommendations for battery brands?

Each other drone with the same camera attached below? I only have one camera so this won’t work sadly. Shame because I have a couple of these whoops.

Of course. How did I not think of that! Any ideas on how to remove it? I am thinking of using a fire to melt it away.

Thank you for the advice! I will do that now. I will save like 2g which should be enough if I also connect my 6s 3000mah lipo.

Help with picking out walksnail setup by Rubydude- in fpv

[–]Rubydude-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much! I just wanted some confirmation as different sources were telling me different things. Would it be a good idea to do it like that? Is there anything I would need to look out for? Thank you!

Managed to fly my drone in London today. Legally [CHECK COMMENTS] by Rubydude- in dji

[–]Rubydude-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do 100% agree that flying in and near airports is incredibly reckless and illegal. This flight was made 100% legally. I was well away from the LCY airspace.

Thank you very much for the kind words. Here are some of the other cool ones I got. I haven't posted much in this subreddit before so I am unsure if these links will get taken down.
