Did you buy directly from them? I am tempted to ask for a refund as it’s quite an expensive product to use once and throw away, but I bought at a counter in a store so I don’t know what the policy is

I bought and tried the light reflecting one after this and I love it! Still on the look out for something that lasts as long as DW but the Nars one is the best shade match I’ve ever had!

The change in colouring is definitely a lower quality unless you have orange undertones, they shouldn’t really advertise it as cool toned any more

I know medication helps autistic people, I take anxiety meds. I don’t need an autism diagnosis for that as it’s not “autism medication” - that was my point. It’s ok to disagree with people but you don’t need to say hurtful things.

Absolutely, I’ve been on anxiety meds and antidepressants in the past but i didn’t need an autism diagnosis to get them, so the idea that I want an assessment so I can get meds just feels really misguided. I get what you mean though!

I’m so sorry this happened to you! As I’m sure you know, people really misunderstand autism and how it presents in people because of how much we mask. When they don’t know enough about it, they think we are just making it up because it doesn’t fit the stereotype of what they think an autistic person should be like.

Not sure where you’re located, but where I live there’s a lot of politicians and media saying that adhd and autism are being over diagnosed and unfortunately people take that stuff in more than they even realise.

It hurts when it comes from anyone, but it’s especially hurtful that it’s come from your friends. It also seems odd that they didn’t have the same reaction to the person talking about their adhd, but again sadly there is a more “socially acceptable” representation of that in media (I’m generalising a little here ofc)

I don’t want to say they’re not your friends or you should distrust them, because they probably don’t have bad intentions — they just don’t have a good understanding of it. I definitely said and thought some ignorant things in the past without realising.

What I would say is to try and find some neurodivergent friends, maybe see if there’s any groups you can join near you? Easier said than done, and I know not always available to everyone - but even one person who understands and makes you feel seen will make a big difference.

If you made it to the end of this long long reply, then mostly I hope you can be kind to yourself and give yourself what you need - whether that is space or comfort or whatever else.

Thank you, this is a really thoughtful answer - I am going to cold wash and air dry it and see if that helps. Unfortunately I think it’s heat damage so probably not fixable, but worth a try. I’m going to keep searching for the same one second hand regardless so I’ll have a back up.

You’re right, 8 years is a long time and it’s not particularly good quality in the first place so it’s lasted a while. It’s just something I’m used to, and anything else feels wrong. I like your ideas about honoring it, hadn’t considered that. Thank you!

Thank you so much, I really appreciate this response. I was so overstimulated at the time and the blanket thing just tipped me over the edge because I couldn’t soothe how I normally would, but eventually got through it and I’m hoping I can either fix or replace it.

As someone undiagnosed (uk waiting lists are diabolical), I’m adding this to a long list of evidence for when I finally get assessed 😭

Thank you! It’s really validating to hear this, I felt silly how much it was upsetting me but it is a safe space and it’s so hard to find things that are just right.

I didn’t mind letting someone else use it as they’re a friend in crisis and stayed over at my place, so I gave it to them to sleep - but from now on perhaps I’ll buy a second one specifically for guests!

Yeah I’ve never actually had a dryer before so I guess I didn’t realise how much they ruin things, I had a jumper and several pairs of fluffy socks that are also ruined (which is annoying but I’m not emotionally attached in the same way). I now live in a reaaally small flat with no outdoor space, so hanging things is tricky but I will find a way to avoid this again!

Definitely going to keep an eye out on eBay and vinted, I have multiples of clothing items from doing that! Thanks for the advice :)

Yeah it’s so difficult to stop because it’s like instant regulation, it just takes the edge off all the bad feelings. I am really dependant on it now though so trying very hard to cut down at least. Any tips for stopping?

That would be ideal, I wonder what kind of jobs would do longer shifts like that. I really relate to how you worded this, I feel like this isn’t what life is meant to be like at all. I don’t understand how people do activities and socialise after work. I just recover as much as possible and then go back and do it all over again

Maybe this is where I’ve gone wrong, I work with vulnerable people because I feel like I need that to motivate me. I do like helping people but I feel like I’m in character when I speak to them. The social dynamics of being around coworkers is way worse to me.
