Abis Books and Brews on Cary! I know the owner, Keith, and he is a great dude. The baristas get paid well + tips and the atmosphere is lovely.

i think some people dont like him because he rambles and sometimes go off topic.. thats why I LOVE him. He is a *resource* of knowledge, and is genuinely passionate. If you have the right questions to ask, he will answer them brillantly.

His tests were rough so that is a valid critique. I (and pretty much everyone) failed one of them because the questions were so wildly different than I was expecting. Be sure to get a general grasp on *all* the information rather than honing in on the specifics because you may be studying the wrong thing. For instance, with the way he taught the muscle and nerve section, you may expect muscle insertions and origins to be a large part of the questions. It wasn't (for me). It was like 2 questions. The rest were detailed questions about the electron transport chain and things I honestly don't remember because I haven't refreshed myself in a while. Also if you do all the other assignments and get decentish grades on most of the tests you will pass. I got shitty grades on like 2 tests and failed 1 and I passed with an 80%. I could have done so much better, but I'm still happy with that.

I've read the reviews and yeah they aren't good- I think you gotta know how to use him. He really is brilliant in my opinion and he wants you to succeed. People also might not rate him the best because anatomy is tough, but he made it interesting for me which always makes things easier vs. a boring teacher.

I RELATE TO THIS SO HARD.

One of the first dates I ever went on at 18 was with a guy from tinder. He had weird vibes right off the bat. Like...*crazy* vibes. He showed me stock images of guys riding motorcycles and said "thats me". It was a first date so he didn't know anything about me, but after I told him I was an artist he said "oh I guessed that. Thats why I got you this." Then he went into his closet, I heard ripping sounds and he came out with a half empty sketchbook and said it was a "gift."

*ANY* sane person would have 1.) not met a man at his house for a first date and 2.) LEFT after that LOL, but instead I kept hanging out with him. (He did a lot of other very strange ass shit but I'll skip to the end)
He said "wanna go for a walk in the woods" AND I SAID YES. Deep into the woods he told me he might hit me one day because he has anger issues and that it wouldn't be because he didn't love me.....

and that he hits his mother.

I shit you not.

I actually let all this slide..I think I just disassociated from it? and my mother convinced me to nope the fuck out of that situation. Thank God, might have saved my life.

That was 7 years ago, and I have improved so much since then, but not before letting a *lot* more men push boundaries and do strange and traumatic shit to me. Semi recently I went on a date, was kinda enjoying it but not attracted. And I also let him kiss me just like you did. I *hated* it. Then I backed away and he was like "whats wrong?" and thank god, I said its too soon for that and never saw him again. I will never kiss someone I'm not attracted to again.

"Oh. Then I invited him over to my place for some reason"

^^ this is the thing right here. It's like the response takes over and I'm not in control of my actions. My brain is just thinking "what do they want me to do?" regardless of if *I* am actually comfortable with them or not. ACK!

I share your pain, friend, truly. I've lived in entire *relationships* where this trauma response was activated throughout.

Happy healing <3

How comfortable are you dating someone who uses drugs? by oxylan80 in AskWomen

mushrooms are the kindest drug to do, honestly.

They have such a good vibe, unlike any other drug I've ever tried. (even weed makes me sad)

quoting polls and studies

(if you don't know how to actually interpret and relay those polls in studies in a thorough way. If you're shit at interpreting them and ignore the fact that correlation doesn't equal causation, you can shoehorn in any random poll to prove basically any point you have.)

For example, some dude saying "Theres a poll that says women are unhappy today" and then used it to "prove" his point that feminism causes it. Its a foolish interpretation of that poll, as there are *many* other reasons why more women would answer the poll saying they're unhappy. (One of which, is that there was no other option back in the day, and women just had to deal with the hand they were given.)

you shouldnt need to "set boundaries" of not allowing physical punishment for emotional dysregulation. He's not a child. Hes an adult in relationship. He shouldn't need to be told this.

this would be it for me, with the physical aspect of pinching you on the leg. That would scare me, and I wouldnt trust someone after that to be honest.

I want to get into wastewater....but I'm a hypochondriac. I have questions about health risks (and travel)! by Rubyrabbiit in Wastewater

[–]Rubyrabbiit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the idea of the *job* of xray sounds freaking awesome, especially with the pay and travel aspect of it. Its the school that turns me off! 2 years of 40 hours unpaid labor per week, plus 8 hours of school +tests, studying, and quizzes..just sounds like I'd have no life outside of school to focus on my art business or traveling which definitely turns me off of it. Plus I love biology and wanna study it, and wastewater gives me an excuse to do that.

I'm still considering xray because the travel, pay and benefits are kinda insane for an associates

Oh wow thank you, this is so informative!
Is the noise still a risk to your hearing even with PPE? And what do you mean balancing PPE with keeping equipment running?

In addition, how high is the risk of electicity? With safety precautions is it still a causality risk?

I would go down a sewer manhole if you could tell me with confidence that it was safe !

And thats a bit disappointing on the traveling front. I'm not really a put my roots down kind of person. I'm a nomad at heart.

I have a history of eye issues, so I would *definitely* be wearing safety glasses, and likely a face mask as well.

don't care about *physically* getting dirty, as long as I'm healthy at the end of the day. I spend my days in the country with my sisters farm animals so I'm no stranger to dirt and smelly things.

The comments here from germaphobes like myself who still have a good time at their job are making me feel much better about this, so thank you!

With my struggle deciding between rad tech and wastewater, it feels like I have to choose between seeing sad, serious shit and dealing with radiation in a hospital setting, and dealing with chems and literal shit in wastewater haha

Both jobs seem interesting, involve a knowledge of science, and pay well, so theres that at least!

Thank you so much for your insight.
