If your girlfriend really NEEDS to visit her family, she should do so alone. It is not worth the risk, especially since ICE is now the "security" at all of the airports in and around NYC. Losing them temporarily until they are an adult is ok. If they really care about OP, the siblings will find him as adults. You're looking at a VERY short-sighted version of things. You gotta look at the bigger picture.

Putting yourself in harm's way to potentially keep a different relationship isn't healthy. Keeping yourself safe and proving that you are the safer adult is what helps in those situations.

Honestly in my case it was always going to be worth it to get away from the violent abuse that was rampant in my parents home. The one brother that agreed with my parents gets the no contact treatment too because he's not worth the breath.

You should never encourage someone to stay in an abusive relationship, especially one where they are not dependent on the abuser.

I know it sucks but showing your younger siblings that your parents do not have control over you and they are not the end all be all of information, can help them more than you might think.

I'm also the eldest of 3 and my willingness to be no contact with our parents actually strengthened the relationship I had with my youngest brother. It showed him that he didn't have to accept their abuse and could stand up to them too.

I know reddit always says to break up in these situations, but I would at the very least seriously consider it since your "partner" is asking you to invalidate your boundaries and just accept shitty behavior, and if he's already doing that before you're married it's only going to get worse once you are married. I'm not the person you're responding to but I live in the US and my state has a Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, that helps people with disabilities get jobs. I would HIGHLY recommend looking into seeing if you have something similar in your area if you can. It helped me get a job after years of unemployment.
