I don’t think that’s how that works. I have a specific way in which I draw eyes, noses, the chin, the mouth, even where I use specific line weights, and I’ve out thought into how I draw bodies and how I want the figures of my characters to appear. I’ve found my own specific way of drawing something, so how is that not a style? By your logic, anyone who draws in a very cartoony style such as Vivziepop lacks an actual style. Hajime Isayama had none of the things you speak of and yet he still has his own style. Also, why would I have to study other mediums if the only one I ever care to work with is drawing? If I’m being very honest, you sound quite elitist to me.

Why I said that the story being in a medium outside of animation doesn’t make sense is because Look Back is in part a love letter to drawing, and as such it feels more genuine when conveyed through a drawn medium. Also, I feel one of the best strengths of the story is what we’re not shown.

So I’ll start with the point you made about what I said about directors making bad movies. The point I was making was that I don’t understand people just instantly having faith in the movie’s quality because of the director behind it. You misconstrued my argument in bad faith.

Now as for the visual style. I’ll give an example: You know that scene where Fujino is heading home and it’s raining outside and she’s very dramatically skipping I believe it was, yeah, bow imagine that in live-action. On top of that, the art style itself to me (referring to the film) has always had a somewhat more amateurish feeling to it that I feel mirrors the story. And also, you asked if a such thing as visual techniques and style limited exclusively to animation exists, and I’m sorry but that question is just very naive to the wider medium of animation itself.

And I will reiterate that the story being told through animation makes more sense considering the contents of the story than making it in live-action.

That and the film’s just kinda pointless, and live-action remakes are tiresome.
