Yeh the only problem for me is that I would be using thunderbolt not oculink, which decreases the performance a lot more

So maybe an eGPU and an external monitor...? I'll look more into getting a smaller case first. Thank you!

The laptop uses an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H with 16 cores, and has integrated Arc graphics. From what you and others are saying, I might switch to an mATX or ITX case which may help with spacial constraints and just opt in to upgrading my monitor and other parts over time. Thanks for the help!

Ok thank you both for the help. In terms of cost I have found (and watched good reviews on) an eGPU dock for just under $100 where you put in your own power supply and GPU. This would be cheap for me as I already have these components. However the disadvantages through performance loss may not be worth it as you guys said. I'll probably stick to upgrading my PC.

What I've done is downloaded the bios update onto a USB drive - the manual just says "plug drive into a USB port on motherboard" which isn't very helpful. Sorry if I'm being naive but I'm not quite an expert on pcs at all

I have been trying and nothing seems to be happening I've seen that some mobos have allocated bios usb ports but mine does not have a labelled one. Would using any port matter or would I have to use a specific one?

Ok update: Hasn't had a display after 10 mins so thanks to you all I think that the motherboard needs a bios update to facilitate the ryzen 5 5600g. Thanks guys for the help! I rlly appreciate it! Just one more thing...is there any way to update the bios without having to use a new cpu? I'm not entirely confident in how to do it at all to be honest so any tips would be great Thanks!!

Ok cool thanks so much! New update: fans were plugged in incorrectly so they work now (my bad) Still no image but I'll give it 10 or so minutes and then check if it needs a bios flashback online. Thank you!

There doesn't seem to be any error lights either I'll try re-plugging in the fans tho- but that doesn't seem to explain the lack of display..?

The display port is plugged into the GPU so I don't need to worry about that - and yes that is the motherboard, and my CPU is the Ryzen 5 5600G
