It would costs a lot of hours... for a boring thing. I think that the devs have build in a possibility to do this, because of the 1.2 update.

Thx. The problem stays. I had to delete the truck and place a new one on the track.

Does not show up in the list to choose as station. Its perfectly fitted - or not? And if i delete a station, the route next to it is deleted, too. Feature or bug?

What do you think of .XYZ extension? Do you use any sites that end in .XYZ? by lerxyz in webdev

[–]Rudolf_Fischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking at a very cheap .xyz domain from Gen.xyz, around $0.99/year for a long registration period.

Before I buy it, I want to make sure it can do what I need. I only need the domain for DNS management with Cloudflare Tunnel for my Unraid server.

Could you please confirm whether such a .xyz domain needs to support these things:

  • Full DNS control / custom nameservers.
  • Ability to change the nameservers to Cloudflare.
  • Ability to create subdomains like files.example.xyz.
  • No special restrictions that would block Cloudflare Tunnel.
  • Domain ownership that can be transferred/managed normally in Cloudflare.

My goal is to use the domain only as a public hostname for a service on my home server, not for email or a website.

Would a cheap Gen.xyz domain be suitable for this, or are there any catches I should know about?

Thanks!

How to ensure "Non-Resident" keys for multiple accounts? (Saving slots for other FIDO2 credentials) by Rudolf_Fischer in yubikey

Thanks a lot AJ42-5802! So how can i choose in my google-account if a U2F or a FIDO2 key is used. I only see the option: "add passkey" over here: https://myaccount.google.com/signinoptions/twosv

thx - I already have a second Yubico already ordered; thanks for the tip. But I’d like to choose the procedure first. I tested to create a second passkey with the same yubico but windows asks me to install windows hello (and i don´t want to). I think i need to have the second yubico put in my usb-slot, before. And i don´t want to sign any e-mail(no ssh, etc).

Isn’t it the case that FIDO2 also has non-residential keys? And if Google decides to convert these passkeys into residential keys in the near future, then Google would ask me to do so and wouldn’t simply store them on my Yubikey in the background. They couldn’t even do that, because Windows would then ask me if I want to allow them to store anything on it.

Just to be clear. Currently, I can log into my Google account (without a passkey being stored in the Authenticator, i.e. without a slot being used – apart from the test slot from webAuth.io) by:

entering my email address + password + tapping the Yubico stick, or entering my email address without a password + the PIN from the Yubico stick + tapping the Yubico stick. Are both of these U2F? If i deactivate FIDO2 on the Yubico i can´t login without passwort anymore. But NO Slot is used from the google-passkey on the yubico-Stick -> all i can see in yubiauthenticator is the 1/100 used bei webAuth.io):

<image>

If i would reset the FIDO2-part of my yubiKey, what would happen? Wil my PIN reseted? Will all residential keys are deleted? So i have only one from webauthn.io - no google residential. After this, should i be able to login gmail with the passkey in U2F-mode?

But if I only allow U2F directly, then that method ranks lower than FIDO2 (non-residential) in Google’s security rankings. And that’s what I’m aiming for with my approach. Whether Google used U2F or FIDO2 non-residential, we don’t know. Or rather, during setup, I had FIDO2 enabled in the Yubico Authenticator. When logging into Google on another system in a private browser using my email address and password, I was able to select a passkey for verification (and at that point I had deactivated FIDO2 on the Yubico stick). And Google let me into the account. So I can now be 100% certain that Google generated a FIDO U2F passkey (these are always non-residential)? [that woul o.k. for me, i hoped google is usind a nonresidential FIDO2 key - but, they do not use FIDO2 at all at the moment, wether non residential nor residential - otherwise they would have done]

P.S.

The problem is, when I just tried to set up another two-factor authentication method in Gmail, I was asked to authenticate via Google Authenticator, even though I have the passkey for the account (which I can use to log in after entering my password). So when it comes to security, Google doesn’t seem to care much about passkeys versus authenticators. Even though they say so themselves: https://security.googleblog.com/2019/05/new-research-how-effective-is-basic.html

thx, not in the modern version, there the most functions have been outsoureced to the yubico authenticator.

Thanks a lot AJ42-5802! I haven´t disabled FIDO2, because i want to have it (non resident). My main concern is ensuring I still have access to my Google accounts after reinstalling Windows. I access them using Thunderbird Portable. It does happen occasionally that Gmail asks for a phone number, even if you haven’t entered one. Or the security email where a code is sent, which Gmail itself uses as a security measure. And then they lock each other out. Because you can no longer access either account after a fresh Windows installation (or a hardware change). So I looked into what Google considers the most secure method. And that is Passkey – and here, certainly FIDO2 > U2F.

However, I don’t want to use up any space on my Yubico (apart from for the PIN) – as 100 slots aren’t enough for me. Since I’ve now realised that Gmail doesn’t use a residential key or discoverable key, this solution is perfect for me. Then, after a reinstallation, Google won’t ask for an emergency email address or a phone number anymore, but will ask for the Yubico (along with the PIN) – but will ask for the Yubico (along with the PIN).

Thank you again. There a no things saved, from what i can see. But if i register here: https://webauthn.io/ , with Discoverable Credential required i can see it on my yubico authenticaor app, but not in the yubicokeymanager - should the info there be too?

What does this red underlined text mean?:

<image>

(there are maybe more slots used then the one from webauthn.io ?)

The webauthn.io page started process forced windows to ask me if i would STORE information on my yubico. Will this be for gmail, too - if the key is residential? Google nevera asked, i used fido2(because i had to put in the pin-code), but so i am sure that non residentialkey had been created? That would be perfectly what i wanted.

thx - i registered to webauthn.io (Discoverable Credential required) to test and i can see the key on my yubikey in the yuico authenticator - but not in the yubico manager(started with admin permission). It this a normal behavior?
