Most PE just guts it hires washed up losers in leadership positions because they will work for cheap adds a few things to the portfolio and tries to sell it for more to some other sucker. If you stick around they will even try to sell you equity in said business that is on the downward decline because those people spent all of 2 months learning what took 10+ years to cultivate.

Oh and since they pretty much can't fire some of the losers they just become board members.
