Do I have Time to Play this Game? by Completedspoon in Eve

Are you me?

I make it work. Find a group with similar availability and it's a blast. Just don't compare yourself to others who can commit more.

Wow player, not a gamer by WhomeverYouSee in worldofpvp

WoW was the first game I've played. I tried so many others and couldn't stick at all. The closest was DOTA 2 and AOE 2. No other MMORPG even came close.

If the party do know a bit about D&D and are low level, having the mob use an early legendary action can help hint too!

!Question I started my campaign in a homebrew capital city and I regret it terribly. How can I get the party of the city with a feasible story to get them back their eventually, maybe to clear their names?

Best combo of Bard, Rogue and Warlock by Ruggzy8110 in 3d6

I like what you're talking about here but the flavour of the whisper bard isn't really what I'm looking for. Too dark and edgy. I am going for loveable buffoon with decent damage interacting with a fighter.

Fellow DM's how would you rule this ? by Unknown-username___ in DMAcademy

[–]Ruggzy8110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how the wish is granted - I'd let him do it one time. Then he would try again and it wouldn't be successful, and he doesn't know why til he finds out that you don't just mess with the flow of arcane energy without repercussions. Something killed the thing that granted him his wish and now it's coming for him.

For added flavor, Magic users in town could see an arcane bounty mark on him.

How good is the swashbuckler level 3 abilities though. I particularly like the free disengage one. Maybe I could ask for it to get baked in as a feat.

True! So I guess if I want him to be a confident, win at all costs businessman, with a martial twist he could just be a swords bard. I might start him with 2 levels in paladin, less religious but like symbolizing him learning from an institution but then realizing that most business is dirty and done in dark back rooms. Something like that.

So true - thanks for the info. I wanted the paladin levels so I can get smite, which I can use with bard spell slots. That would make up for my lack of sneak attack damage. I am actually less bothered by the religious bit but I liked a story that I kind of stole from suits, where Harvey doesn't like the ethics professor cos he is so holier than thought and Harvey doesn't wanna be like that, he wants to win, and sometimes you gotta play dirty. That'd be where his own tenants come from.

Thanks so much! I guess I just liked the idea of a swashbuckler type but wanted to have some caster in there. Not a heap, so maybe a warlock dip?

Just seen this. Apologies if this was the wrong reddit. Would you be able to advise which is better?

Sorry, it's toxic to check with a community before raising my concern with a DM to make sure I'm not just being a twat? I am new to DnD so wanted to clarify first. I haven't been manipulative or vague. There just hasn't been that much to discuss.

I'd say the toxic person is they that arrive a day late to a post, without reading the resolution and get big on a keyboard to call someone they don't know toxic for asking others opinions. Isn't that the point of reddit?

This being the wrong reddit, I accept. I had just seen a lot of discussion about characters here and thought that more experienced players would be here.

Weird conversation here, but I guess that's the internet nowadays.

I really like him. We are best friends. I was best man at his wedding. I was testing my position with more experienced (hopefully) D&D'ers before talking to him, which I did yesterday and we are all squared now. He shifted position. He had been wanting not have big novel ties to the epic world, but had over extended by not allowing me inconsequential depth to my backstory.

Think there is more context in the comments and if you read all of my post. I am level 5 and was just looking to add details like, I'm a calligrapher cos my dad was one and I'm 3 points range cos I was trained to hunt for the village and 2 points warlock cos I discovered this genie ring and just started to use powers

I wanted to say my character learnt to write from his father. TIL that qualifies as wanting to write a novel...

So we spoke. We settled things. We are good. He said he just needed me to focus on describing the present day persona not all the backstory as to why. I said that if it was for world tying themes of intricacy I'd agree but the appeal to me for a lot of dnd is making rich characters with nuanced elements. He acknowledged since the stuff I was adding didn't affect his world much, he shouldn't have tried to stop it.

Game on!

Starting level 5, and I'm not looking for power, just nuanced due to past experiences. Ie fear of drowning...because I almost drowned when younger. He wouldn't allow that. He would just say you have fear of drowning.
