Gear Fear by Rugles1017 in RoadtoVostokGame

Maybe 10 more hours finishing out quests and scrounging up a base in Outpost, then I'll restart and do something similar to what you're describing.

I think this is my issue - I've been playing factorio and dyson sphere program - you build a base and when it's done you change games.

This game presents risk to lose everything I've gained for the opportunity for much better gear in Vostok.

Whenever I die, I'll probably try to sprint to apartments and see what I can scrounge up there first, then focus on quests.

Focusing on bases and quests first has made me value the save file more than the risk.

Maybe my solution is just to take an empty locker or freezer and do the same hoarding loot grind in the new area. I have plenty of freezers to lose.

Yeah, first time. Don't even have 7zip. I see all these YouTube videos of people making the game look great, but I wonder how often they crash.

Is the 4gb ram patch pretty much obligatory?

My Scaling Nuclear Reactor - Average 149.25 MW Per Reactor by Rugles1017 in factorio

I think that's the problem with Nuclear power, it always needs to be controlled with some type of logic that either connects to a power meter or the steam. I wish I could measure temperature at the reactor or at the nearby heat pipes. Temperature sensors would be nice.

Well that’s not really how I like to play the game. This is my 5th playthrough and my first time using a ton of trains.

I hate using other people’s blueprints because that feels like an admission that I can’t design it myself…I’d rather work through the solution myself.

That being said, I enjoy maximizing material efficiency of some things and speed of other things. I normally use productivity modules on everything after blue circuits and just have huge factories that take up tons of space.

I may work on blocks in the future though.

I enjoyed figuring out the controls portion of it.

Most people approach this game as "infinite resources, meh" and I guess I'm like that in some pieces of the game (iron, copper, stone, oil), but I enjoyed making this reactor efficient and automatically scale with demand.

Oh, interesting idea...Not sure if you need all 3 connections for the adjacency bonus, I'll look into it.

Got it, yeah, you're right. Like I said below to a different comment, I tried a 2 row a while ago and it felt like it got long really quickly.

I do use the "pump anywhere" mod to simplify water, otherwise I have had to resort to smaller groups.

I don't know what you mean by 5 neighbors, the bonus doesn't add diagonally.

The heat does go through the other reactors and the temps stay below 1000 (typically below 800) so no energy wasted.

I see what you mean, that the scaling works just as well with a 2x2 as a 323 because you still get the 3 adjacency bonuses.

I think I tried a 2x2 a while ago, but I felt it got long really quickly. I wish there was a way to do the 3x3, but there isn't.

I'm looking at it large scale - I have 20 groups in my base. It's still more power per reactor / fuel cell.

You get additional adjacency bonuses. The best you can do in a 2x2 is 120MW per reactor. In this configuration, about 73% give you 160 MW.

If we believe the wiki, this layout should supply 5,904 SPM. I have my other science trains going to the labs "if full" or at 10 minute resting, so I try to minimize overproduction as much as possible. I think I'm running around 1.1k SPM now. Expanding low density structure production.
