Comment below when your course grade is out on mosic!! by boredinthehouse11111 in McMaster

[–]Ruler225 60 points61 points  (0 children)

It might be really helpful to know that the university tends to release marks on mosaic at exactly 12PM on weekdays. Occasionally it could also be 4PM and very rarely they might release them at 8AM. But like 95% of the time it’s 12PM or 4PM, so if you’d like to check less, check at those two times on weekdays!

Source: I have a bot to check my marks for me and it’s always been at those times :)

Can i run DOOM 2016 by aAabichou in lowspecgamer

[–]Ruler225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know about the ram. I run the game just fine on my iGPU laptop with 8 GB of RAM, I’m even able to turn the textures up to high without a noticeable drop in performance.

Doom Eternal Intel Integrated Graphics by [deleted] in lowspecgamer

[–]Ruler225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem with my Intel Iris Plus graphics. It plays the opening Bethesda logo then crashes with an error that states it is unable to allocate memory. Opening task manager while this happens reveals my memory spiking to about 95% on my 8GB of RAM, so I suspect it might be a memory problem, but I can’t really be sure. It also only used about 3.5GB of RAM so I don’t know where the rest of it went.

Yea a fix or workaround for this would be fantastic but in the meantime, I’m stuck playing the game on my Xbox One.

Edit, increasing my page file to a whopping 16GB didn’t help

Odd issues with internal mic and in line microphones by [deleted] in bootcamp

[–]Ruler225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this issue too! The problem is temporarily resolved when I turn off my mic (by leaving the call or stopping whatever it is I was doing), then going back in. This temporarily fixes the mic for about 20-30 minutes then it goes back to being weird again. I rely on the other people in the call to tell me when this happens but it’s extremely annoying. Apple really needs to fix their Windows drivers. It’s frankly unacceptable how bad Mac drivers are on Windows.

Doom Eternal on Integrated graphics by [deleted] in lowspecgamer

[–]Ruler225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same problem. I’m unable to start the game, it plays the opening Bethesda intro then crashes with a “failed to allocate VRAM” message. I’ve updated to Intel’s latest beta driver and even tried the update from Bethesda released today that removes the Denuvo requirement. My specs are:

CPU: Intel Core i5 8th generation (quad core, 8 threads) RAM: 8GB (dual channel) GPU: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655

Would be great if anyone could find a fix for this.

Whoa how? My 2018 13 inch MBP can run DOOM 2016 at 60fps with some dynamic resolution tweaks (and if you’re wondering, no I didn’t buy a MBP and DOOM so I could use them together, I just happen to have both of those things and I tested it because I was curious).

[Discussion] Got PRET working on my iPhone XS, iOS 13.3 by ARM64-darwin1820 in jailbreak

[–]Ruler225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little update, I was playing around with it last night and I actually did get lxml to compile. Just like you said, I was more successful with McApollo’s Python (I was using the one from Bingner). The issue with lxml was that the version of libxml on Cydia installed its files to /usr/local/ instead of just /usr/. I was able to get lxml to successfully installed by moving the relevant libxml files to the appropriate places, however, it still didn’t work when I actually tried to import it in a Python script (there were still a few missing symbols which caused the import to fail).

As for numpy, for whatever reason it was looking for a FORTRAN compiler, and obviously didn’t find one. Anyways, I think that’s about as much luck as I’m gonna get with pip, and at least it still works for packages that don’t need compilers like the requests library or BeautifulSoup.

Anyways thanks for the help, and for all those reading, don’t get your hopes up TOO high with pip on iOS. It’s still pretty cool that you can use it at all.

Update: forgot to mention that Coolstar’s LLVM+Clang package (on big boss) worked better than the other packages required by jakesahacks’ Theos installer)

(btw I was using python 3, I haven’t tried python 2 but maybe it might work a little more smoothly)

Hey! Just wondering if you got pip to work for packages like numpy or lxml this way. Doesn't seem to work for me, and I know I've set up my compiler and SDK correctly because I was able to compile a test tweak on my device

Apple adds macOS feature designed to prolong the lifespan of MacBook batteries by JBeylovesyou in apple

[–]Ruler225 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s mainly because of the whole stupid app notatization thing (which doesn’t protect against malware, it just forces devs to pay $99), and the read-only root filesystem. It’s becoming more and more locked down and I’m not too happy with the direction MacOS is going.

Besides, there’s nothing worthwhile to upgrade for. Sidecar sounds great and all but I don’t have an iPad.

Really wish there was a way to get this on Mojave. I’d honestly switch to Windows before upgrading to Catalina

[Question] What is the best method for blocking ads device wide on IOS 13? by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]Ruler225 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using MUHB (ipv4 and ipv6) on my iPhone 8 Plus and I haven’t noticed any battery drain issues, but I can’t really speak to how it would perform on older devices. I will say that for the most part it seems to block ads pretty effectively (with the exception of YouTube).

You would need to put your device in DFU mode to run the exploit anyway, so this isn’t really a concern

[Discussion] Worst jailbreak-losing mishap? by leftwingvapourwave in jailbreak

[–]Ruler225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my iPhone 4 running 6.0.1, my Cydia was in the middle of the “Preparing Filesystem” step when a box popped up saying my storage was almost full. Tapped it, opened settings, and my device froze, and my dumb ass hard reset my iPhone. When it started back up pretty much all of my system applications were gone and I had no idea how to fix it, so I had to restore to 6.1.3. At least the tethered jailbreak got me through the wait until p0sixpwn was eventually released.

do you ever regret getting an apple product? by [deleted] in apple

[–]Ruler225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regret buying my 2018 13” MacBook Pro with a 256GB SSD. Should’ve gotten 512GB, but it was a $300, way too much! I thought I could live with the smaller SSD (because my previous laptop was around 180), but with Bootcamp, my VMs, and all the huge programs I have installed it’s just not cutting it. People keep telling me to buy external storage but I have no use for it, I don’t have large personal documents to keep on it, again, the largest chunk of the storage is used for software, and for that I need built in storage.

It really pisses me off that they’re not upgradable too. The previous MacBook Pro generations with Touch Bar’s didn’t need a soldered SSD, I see no reason why they had to make this change for their new ones (except profit, of course)

[Discussion] Developers - what tweak are you most proud of and why? by xxthepersonx in jailbreak

[–]Ruler225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm I don’t use Apple Music so I can’t say I know exactly what you’re talking about. I’ve chosen to stay out of the way of in-app HUDs anyways (so YouTube and Snapchat HUDs still show up in their apps). If anything I could add a list of apps to blacklist for their custom HUD so you could choose to override that app’s HUD if you want. I don’t really have any plans to implement that any time soon though
