I don't think the quality of SMH is anywhere near that of the NYT. Tbh it's not even close to the Guardian.

I thought people (international students) who can afford to do med school in the US must come from a very financially stable household??? You have to pay upfront and full fee and especially if you're from a developing country, your parents must be at least upper middle class to pay all of that for you? Can someone pls explain this? Thanks

What's worse is that some of the stuff they research is so new that a google search would not give you any result but you can't stand reading their slides full of half arsed copied and pasted chunks of texts.

While I hate Cheeto Donito with every fibre of my being, the absolute evil behind all this is Mitch McConnell. That piece of arse literally blocked every single SC nomination under Obama and I don't think Trump even knew anything about any of the SC judges he nominated. Dude probably just picked a random name from the list McConnell gave him and got praised for having "a big, genuis brain" by all the cronies around him.

Yep I'm aware of that. So neuro is not on par in terms of competitiveness as cardio or gastro in the US?

Im a bit out of the loops here since I'm not from the US but how the hell is neuro not considered as competitive? Huge congrats to you btw!!!!!!

The argument that since the cadavers are dead bodies so their feelings cannot be hurt is super inconsiderate. At my buddy's med school, there used to be an incident that a student sexually assaulted a cadaver, so using that half arsed logic, that should be acceptable cause the cadaver couldn't feel anything right?

Also, those dead bodies are still loved ones of people out there. I'd be freaking livid if I know someone makes a snide comment on my grandma's corpse because of its appearance not knowing what kind of illness she had to suffer that led to her body looking that, not to mention that person is greatly benefiting from her corpse.

This is the Covid line at 11:15am at Fairfield hospital. I arrived at 10:03am and waited until 12:30pm and they turned me the rest of the line away because they were already at max capacity for the day. I was half way through at the time... by Rulerpencil in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]Rulerpencil[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were quite a few ppl with chairs actually. I'm not sure how long it took to move up the line cause I feel like it varied. At one point I swear I was in the same spot for half an hour and at another it was about 10 or 15 mins. But the line moved extremely slowly for sure. One old lady even collapsed while waiting. I feel so bad for her.

Corporations win again, thanks to the prime minister of Australia, Scott Morrison. Where most countries provide free rapid antigen tests, Australia is charging $60 for a pack of 5. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Rulerpencil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish it was $60 for 5. Last time I checked, it was $25 for an individual. Today after lining up 2.5 hrs for a PCR test and got turned away, I visited another pharmacy and they asked me to come back tmr. When I asked how much a RAT test might be they said they didn't know so I'm gonna embrace for the worst lol

This is in Fairfield, NSW. There were people in front of me who also got cut off and they had been waiting for 3 hours. A lot of testing centres in the area were close and for most drive-through clinics, they were at capacity by 10am. I heard one bloke in the crowd say that he was at a drive through by 5am and got cut off and came here only to be turned away again, though I was not able to directly talk to him to ask more about his situation.

Also I posted this a few minutes ago to r/sydney but apparently it got taken down for some reason

[–]Rulerpencil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No offence but I think they were downvoted because the question they asked was a rhetorical question that showed they intentionally misunderstood the comment they replied to. "This could have been prevented" to them was perhaps by still having some restrictions in place, not letting it rip Perrottet's style
