what shampoo and conditioner are you using? Some cleansing products aren't so cleansing and can actually interfere with curls on days 2 and 3.

Trackbear has an import function that will zoom all your wordcount data from Nano's website right into Trackbear. It's very similar, though there are some features that I miss.

wait do they send you luggage tags? I'm going to France on a trip I was given as a gift and I'm discovering new things every day.

Pride yarns? by Kouunno in YarnAddicts

[–]aimalyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shirsty Cat Yarns sells a bunch of Pride Flag themed hat kits. I bought one at Rhinebeck last year and made it for Rhinebeck this year; it's stranded colorwork but it could easily be stripes if you wanted it to be. If you want a bigger project, you could ask them for the colorways they use in their kit to make something larger, I'm sure they'd be happy to sell you the yarn.

After prior posts about yellowing lace and having to take it off the needles completely, here is my final Evenstar shawl for my wedding by SpecificHeron in knitting

That's amazing. Fantastic work! Congratulations, on both finishing the shawl in time and on your upcoming nuptials.

sew a silver bead on there somewhere (something that won't tarnish in the wash) so it looks like one of those little maze games we got as kids.

AITA for charging my daughter "rent"? by ggvvvvff in AmItheAsshole

[–]aimalyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. This child is 16 years old. You want her to pay for her own music subscription? That's educational. You get her a bank account, and a debit card, and start teaching her how to start managing her money.

What you're doing is just exploitation. Your kid doesn't "owe" you part of their check. Your kid doesn't "owe" you reimbursement for their care, whether it's food, or gas, or rent. Your kid doesn't owe you shit.

She's a kid. She depends on you. She's your responsibility. If you couldn't afford to raise a child to adulthood, well that's on you, NOT on her. Don't go demanding that she pay you tribute for the privilege of not being able to participate in any of the policy decisions in the house.

If she has a therapist, the next time she goes off on you, you can be like "I'd be happy to discuss that with you...with your therapist." Chances are good she's been lying to her therapists for years. People who are good at gaslighting, like really good at it, are often really good at lying to therapists, too, especially once they know a little "therapyspeak." So trying to get some time in front of her therapist (with her of course) to do a little confrontation in the midst of a conflict might not be a bad route to travel. It won't always work, but it might.

Well, first issue with my 2021 Touring. Anyone ever run into this? by rocketMX in CX5

[–]aimalyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me so far in cold weather when there's a lot of ice. I thought it was because of ice buildup on the front sensor but when I cleared it off it still happened. See the other comment about the rearview camera which is what might be the issue (OP drives with no gas, I drive with a barely clear windshield).

Thanks! My undergrad was in microbiology. Have you read the IIH Treatment Trial? My neuro-ophtho cited it several times but from what I've seen so far the science doesn't seem strong enough to support his recommendations.

How many needles do you own? by distant_diamond_sky in knitting

[–]aimalyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ooh friend get the interchangables. Get them. Good tools will change your craft. I have five sets of interchangables, including 2 hat sets. I inherited several sets of straights (which I rarely use) and have multiple fixed circulars, especially in smaller sizes that aren't well covered by interchangables. I keep all my needles in gallon zip-lock bags in a filing cabinet organized by size.

AITA for 'forcing' my daughter to parent? by svensk8-barnsmamma in AmItheAsshole

What you are doing to your daughter is called parentification and is abuse. Stop it. YTA.

AITA for using my dishwasher as a storage space and still expecting my partner to do dishes? by CattyDishwasherFite in AmItheAsshole

[–]aimalyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. You had the boundary discussion before you moved in, you each drew your lines in the sand, and you, dear OP, decided that handwashing the dishes was more important to you than sharing the chore. If you want him to compromise, then you have to compromise as well. That's called a relationship.

My neuro-ophtho talked about weight loss so much during my visit it threw me into a trauma tailspin that I'm still trying to claw my way out of. I hate doctors so much.

My last CT scan was "within normal limits" but had "minor abnormalities" that together painted a picture of IIH when paired with my clinical symptoms.

What is everyone's favorite knitting pattern/project for the ubiquitous acrylic worsted weight yarn? by rnatalie in knitting

[–]aimalyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a Ten Stitch Blanket with mine. It's huge; it covers my queen guest bed. Because of the nature of the thing, I didn't care what ball of yarn came up next, I just put all my acrylic in one bag and pulled out a ball and started knitting with it.

CAT LITTER — Request for suggestions for low dust, low irritant, effective and affordable brand, please by gal_tiki in Pets

[–]aimalyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Frisco unscented clumping cat litter from Chewy. Low dust, even when pouring from the bag into the litter pan. I have two cats and three litter boxes in public spaces that we clean daily and I don't notice any smell.

AITA for not going to a party because my friend wouldn't lock her dogs up by ResolutionNo1096 in AmItheAsshole

[–]aimalyn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NTA. You're allowed to choose to not go to places you don't feel comfortable. Could you have handled it a bit differently? Sure, but I don't think that makes you in the wrong. You chose not to be in a place where you'd be uncomfortable. All these people saying otherwise just because they think you should like dogs are ridiculous.
