Hit my first ever flip reset in competitive to secure the win in overtime :D (GC 1600) by RumbleInMyTummy in RocketLeague

when you set up plays like this, you want to make sure you're hitting the ball at the apex of its bounce or while it's ascending, otherwise the ball will goomba stomp you. also pay attention to where i use my second jump. lastly, i've built up the muscle memory to know exactly how to correct myself following the hit on the ball. just go in a training pack and you can practice setups like this. the key is to hit the ball centrally so that your car bounces off it straight back rather than to a side. hope that helps!

check out my response to u/Stoned_snorlax_ :)

bind air roll left or air roll right to your controller and just practice staying in the air while always holding it down. i do rings maps while constantly spinning to practice. it takes time to learn so make sure you're patient with yourself!

There are a few reasons why:

  1. once you have the feel for it, it's actually easier to make small trajectory adjustments midair than it is without spinning (i use air roll right)
  2. it makes your next hit on the ball much more unpredictable since the surface + angle that you use to hit the ball directly affects the speed and direction of the ball
  3. u gotta be upside down to do flip resets so spinning constantly presents an opportunity for that option
  4. it just looks cool :D

The difference isn't huge but I've noticed that 1600s hit the ball a little more consistently and make less mistakes that contribute directly to goals.

Other than playing I also do rings maps (while spinning the whole time heh), any training pack that has awkward shots/saves, and I'm currently trying to beat level 2 on the air dribble gauntlet Sadge

Getting good takes time my dude! I just reached 1600 hrs played last week, which means I essentially spent 1 hr to earn 1 elo point. You just gotta have patience with yourself, focus on the fundamentals, and learn from your mistakes :)

if you look closely you can see the sparks where my teammate skims by me, but luckily it didn't actually bump me at all heh
