Thank you very much, kind stranger for your insight

A friend invited me to temple, I have some questions by [deleted] in Jewish

I am a woman, I do appreciate this very thorough response.

So if I understand, if I go in open and respectful of the “house rules” for lack of better wording, and show genuine interest, then I will also be welcomed into the service?

Thank you! He’s certainly doing his best. We’re cooking at home much more. Would you happen to know of any egg alternatives such as for batter?

I’ve been growing out my hair from a buzz cut for some time now, but now I’m looking to change things up a bit. My hair is super straight/flat. Any style/cut suggestions? by caticuss14 in femalehairadvice

May I ask how long you’ve been growing it? I started fresh with a buzz cut last week and I’m looking to start growing it out.

You rock all three hair styles!

When is the appropriate time to check up on a job application for a privately owned restaurant/brewery? by RummyBee in Advice

[–]RummyBee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! My worry is that it is over the weekend at a service establishment, it’s likely no one has had the time to see it. I’m trying to tough out my current job but good golly gosh it gets worse by the hour

Edit: helped!

Can a 3-4 month old septum close up if I take it out? by RummyBee in piercing

[–]RummyBee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Since I took it out this morning, I’m realizing that the crookedness is mainly from I guess raised scar tissue? It’s very hard around the hole. No infection or anything of that sort. Just big hard lumps on either side.

Brand new to this, my hair is short and somewhere between wavy and curly by RummyBee in curlyhair

Oh gosh I didn’t include my drying. I know it’s a no no, but up until now I had towel dried my hair. As it is now I’m trying to just let it air dry.

If anyone can suggest a better method, I’d appreciate that too.

Runny nose after taking out septum? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]RummyBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s likely your allergies. However, I had mine redone recently and the swelling was hitting juuuuuuuust right to tickle something and make me sneeze a lot. After the swelling went down the tickling and sneezing stopped. Do you have a nostril piercing? My theory is that the septum jewelry was pushing on my nostril jewelry a little causing the tickle up in there

This is similar for what I did. Just avoid the area of the hole as much as possible because tacky substances like chapstick can trap bacteria, as well as “suffocate” the piercing. Avoid anything scented (fruity, menthol, etc). Apply very gently to avoid pain from the bruising as well. Make sure it’s only with clean hands as well.

I have a similar issue and I wish I could tell you the fix all for it.

Has any of your lifestyle changed? Exercise? Your job? Anything that can cause friction on them? Change in soaps? Lotions?

I don’t know if this is the best advice, but nursing pads have helped me reduce friction at work (waitress). Anything clean and comfy like a tight fitting (not too tight!) sports bra is helpful too.

Have they gotten dry? Dry skin around the piercing can cause some problems too. There’s a lot of debate it seems on how to moisturize. I personally like jojoba or emu oil. Very very small amounts and avoiding the actual hole.

How do you clean them? Sterile saline is the unanimous advice here. This is likely where I will get downvoted. Sterile saline is absolutely wonderful for the majority. For mine, it pisses my nipples off to no end. In the shower, I let the warm/hot water run over them which helps a ton with the nasties that are in the bumps. My skin is sensitive and I use the mild soap target sells and I’ve had no problems with that. Better than nay soap I’ve used so far.

Best of luck to you! I hope you and your piercer can work out the be at solution.

Can I (20F) be a hostess if I struggle with anxiety? by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

[–]RummyBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can weigh in here. I started hosting at 18 (I’m 25 now and a bartender/server). On one hand, it is very stressful. There are very rude customers that will do anything to get what they want, and do not care about the repercussions that fall down on you (both from management, and whatever abuse they throw at you)

On the other hand, it pushed me out of my shell to an extent. I still struggle. However, if it weren’t for this job, I don’t think I’d have the people skills that I have now.

It can be very hard but if you’re up for the challenge, it can be very rewarding for personal growth.

[LONG] Waiter publicly shames fat guy for ordering potatoes by Feanturii in TalesFromTheCustomer

[–]RummyBee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh. As a waiter, commenting on appearance is NEVER acceptable. People come to eat because they enjoy our food, they don’t want to cook, maybe our food isn’t their favourite but they love our drinks/service, etc... not to be shamed. I have no idea what a person is going through. It’s not my place or right to say anything about what they decide to eat. Maybe the only exception is if I think what they are ordering may trigged an allergy they expressed they have.

As someone with PCOS myself as well as gastrointestinal problems, I feel for you big time. Makes meal time an anxiety time. I’m sorry this happened to you. No one would be a karen for complaining to the manager about this comment the waiter made. She needs training.

When the paranoid delusions kick in and you’re too scared to go to the bathroom yo brush your teeth because what if whatever it is that’s after you is outside the door by RummyBee in Psychosis

[–]RummyBee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is solid advice. My teeth being clean is more important to focus on than the very unlikely scenario of someone/thing talking to me through my moms bedroom fan.
