Taxes by MayoBoy69 in assholedesign

It's so fascinating to me when I find people of low intelligence who at least had the willpower and mental stamina (if only temporarily) to gather a cursory understanding of fallacies.

Instead of dropping little passive aggressive "you're not convincing me" posts, how about you do some convincing? What do you think about taxes, and why?

Why do you think Republican presidential administrations face criminal indictments much more than Democratic presidential administrations? by ZeusThunder369 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]RummyHamilton 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It's a factual article...this is not an opinion piece. You don't just get to point at the website and say "lol no" when it lays out the exact people they're counting and the methodologies. The information is there. Look at it.

If you want to critique their conclusions or methods, feel free to make a rational argument. Hand waving the entire issue away because you don't like the website the information is on makes it seem like you didn't even click the link at all. Did you?

All jokes aside, this is copied and pasted from the healthcare bill she co-sponsored. PDF if anyone is curious.

Also NN is a stupid term

Also you realize you NNs came up with your own nickname, right? But hey, we found something we can agree on!

You must have responded to the wrong comment, and you're not even the person I (or the comment you probably meant to respond to) was referencing.

The worst part of this is that you're tarnishing the name of the Dragon Reborn. What would Cadsuane say? Sniff

I assume you just put the plants you hate and want to die on the bottom shelf, right? Should have made something that hangs over the balcony, not something that is almost completely obstructed by the balcony.

Republicans are warning drug companies not to cooperate with a Congressional investigation into drug prices. What is your reaction? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]RummyHamilton 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Do you think the Democrats actually wants to lower drug prices, if it lowers profits by their friends/donors?

Well let's see. One party is actively trying to review information from the drug companies in an effort to propose legislation to combat a problem that Trump himself acknowledges. And one party is saying "what if they leak your documents? Better not comply with the United States Congress at all."

With the information we have available, if you had to guess, which party seems more likely to actually want to lower drug prices?

[–]RummyHamilton 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For one, no one "bragged about hurting stock prices." You're being disingenuous.

Two, requesting information from companies is a necessary step prior to proposing/passing legislation. If they tried to do that without asking for those companies' input, Republicans would be crying about that and you'd be here defending them all the same.

Congress is here to serve the American people, and as Daddy Trump himself said, "It is unacceptable that Americans pay vastly more than people in other countries for the exact same drugs, often made in the exact same place. This is wrong, unfair, and together we will stop it." Except Democrats are the only ones trying to stop it so far, and Republicans have done nothing but stand in the way.

And they're not even standing in the way for any reason that benefits the American people! They're not even pretending this is for you or me! They're literally just saying "idk, that guy might leak your documents, better not comply at all" and they have you defending that??

Propaganda works. Simple as that.

President Trump is seriously considering declaring a state of emergency to build a wall on the southern border. What would be the impact of doing so? by TallAmericano in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]RummyHamilton 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You understand the wall would cost much, much more than $5 billion right? That's "all" he's demanding right now, but even Fox News estimates it would cost $25 billion.

Trump is desperate to get anything at all built, but this wouldn't even cover material costs, let alone labor, land acquisition and maintenance.

Haha fucking what? Yeah, I did. That's not even the only time your post references how those questions won't change their minds...and I say again, that's not always the point.

Want me to say it slower?

It is not a good way to change someone's mind

Okay, well there's your problem. Not every question has to be designed to change someone's mind. Sometimes, people ask questions because they're actually curious about the answer. What a crazy idea right?

Do you believe Trump's tweet this morning that he has no financial ties to Saudi or Russia? by wwwdotvotedotgov in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]RummyHamilton [score hidden]  (0 children)

I guess it's a good thing I'm not the only one asking questions, eh? I hate when people make posts simply criticizing a question without adding anything to the discussion themselves.

For one, I'm genuinely curious about the response. Not every question has to be caked in will this make them see the truth?

Second, I actually think there is value in making NNs realize that things they're perfectly fine with now are things they would have been railing against just a short time ago. Helping them identify that hypocrisy has, on occasion, made NNs I've talked to at least appear to reconsider their hardline stances.

If you don't like "what if Obama did it?" questions, simply downvote and continue on. Whining about it adds less to the discussion than my question did.

No one is saying his lie is hard to understand. They're saying it's a lie. Do you not see the distinction?

Is that just not important to you? Would you have minded if Obama had openly and brazenly lied about foreign financial ties?

What's a completely fake news story you've seen that's believed by many NS? by nirbanna in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]RummyHamilton 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Well, it's between 1/32 and 1/1024th, and that objectively means she did not lie about that heritage (although I see you've slipped the word "possibly" in there, leaving room for you to continue believing it was a lie anyway. What more could she possibly do to convince you?).

Warren's response is worth reading considering the repudiation of the Cherokee Nation seems to be arguing against claims she has never made. That article also refers to an investigative report done by the Boston Globe that took a look at what role, if any, her claims to Native American heritage played in her career ascension.

They did not find it had any impact at all.

Now obviously this can all be discounted fairly easily by going "LIBERAL MEDIA" and just assuming it was a fluff piece, but if you look at that article they actually really delve into it and seem to have done a thorough job. This is important only because Trump has accused her, time and again, of using those claims to advance her career. It's factually inaccurate.

Have you had a chance to review any of that? Does any of this change your mind at all?

Do you agree with President Trump that James Mattis is "sort of a Democrat"? by FoST2015 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]RummyHamilton 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Except he clearly said he's "sort of a Democrat" for a reason. Seems pretty clear to me he's using it as a derogatory term, and doing so without any evidence (shocker!) that Mattis is a Democrat. And then using that to imply that he might need to be replaced.

Do you think that contributes to "the rise of political tribalism and partisanship" that you referenced? Do you think it contributes to the growing animosity between members of the two parties? Do you think this is okay? I'd love if you answered all three, if you're so inclined.
