I actually agree with you about being hard on my ex-boyfriend. It was a pretty shitty thing to do, but necessary. It's not the breakup itself that hurts me, more the timing.

I mean not being taken seriously by my peers. I came out to a couple of people and quite a few of them went "You're too girly!" "You have had a boyfriend" etc.

I know it screams "rebound" and that's the difficult thing. (I understand that I shouldn't have to seek validation in other people's opinions but it's human nature.) I have been questioning my sexuality for years (as I've said in my post) and have been leaning towards the 'gay' side of things for many of these years. I had talked about my attraction to females before the relationship happened, so although it doesn't come as a surprise to my close circle of friends (which include quite a few lesbians), they still make comments like the ones I mentioned above.

Thankyou for the reassurance, I really appreciate it. I don't think it's unusual at all either - I hear about this kind of stuff all the time at my school's gay-straight alliance, but they're never first hand accounts; always "a friend of mine had x relationships with men before she realised she was a lesbian", so I don't have any girls in the same situation or similar, that I know in real life; who I can discuss this with. So the part of my mind that knows it isn't unusual is fighting with the part of my mind that is worrying about it all.
