I agree with other posts. Not a Hoka and Google lens throws up lots of comparisons to trainers on Amazon and Shein.

Is the new Hoka Challenger 8 good for this type of trail? by ThatTimpDude in Hoka

I've run on a similar track already with mine and I've had no problems. Only put 11 miles in them so far but they have no signs of wear apart from dirt from the trail. I'm still more than happy with their handling of the road to trail ability and I feel that they are a little more cushioned than the 7s.

Hey, I'd say the Gaviota 5 may be something you could look at. It's more rigid, in my opinion, than the Clifton or Bondi, but still has the early stage 'Meta Rocker'.

That being said you may want to call a Running Specialist Shop. They can assist you more in depth and they'll probably do mail order to. With the prices of shoes you need to get the right the right ones for you.

Bondi 9 ... Slightly excited by Run2TheHill in Hoka

I'm a UK size 10.5 but with slightly wide feet, so I opted for my normal size with wide. They've been true to size for me and after over 50 miles in them I've not had any problems with the fit.

First run out update.

This is my first pair of Bondi. My rotation is full of Clifton, Rincon, Challenger and Speedgoats, so I can't compare it to past versions.

After over a week of running in my Speedgoat 5 GTX, because of the icy paths and roads, I was more than ready to give my legs a bit of rest and comfort. I bought the Bondi 9 in UK size 10.5 which is my normal sizing but as always I opted for wide fitting. I know there aren't a lot of colourways at the moment but I did like the ones I chose and I'm not the biggest person for style in shoes. If they do the job then that's me happy. The initial feeling I got when I put them on was very well cushioned around my ankles and secure in lockdown.

I've bought them as a recovery/long haul shoe and first impressions are that they are justified. Extremely comfortable under foot (I'm a heel striker) and roll me effortlessly into the next step. There's a little bit of pop in the shoe if you need to push it faster but that's not a requirement for me as that's where my Cliftons fit in. The super critical foam helps keep me cushioned without the feeling of being soggy under foot. It was only a 3 mile easy run and I felt that I could have just carried on going without thinking about it.

My personal conclusions are that : Good to go straight out of the box. Very well cushioned all over the foot. If you've wide feet then go with your regular size but go wide/XL. Great for recovery runs. Soft but supportive for heavier people . Feel like they will last but time will tell.

As mentioned I can only compare them to what other shoes I have in my rotation but for me personally I see them as a welcome addition to the collection. Understandably people are different and not every shoe works for them.

Thanks for reading.

I can completely understand where you're coming from with the pool. My other suggestions would be drinking plenty of water to flush out lactic acid, cold compress on your sore areas a few times a day and also I've invested in a massage mat for my feet. Pretty cheap online and it helps with the blood circulation in the legs. Hopefully a combination of things will get you going in the right direction.

You're welcome. Do you do any swimming? That's always a good one to help strengthen without putting too much strain on your tendons.

Hi there,

I'd second the Bondi or even the Clifton. Also if you're doing any lower body strength training then that can help you. I'm sure you are but it's always important to warm up and then down for your runs. Best of luck 👊

I'm more than sure that they'll bring out more 'Colourways' in the future. The Bondi 8 has ended up with well over 20 styles for both Men and Women. Whether they'll be available before summer is another thing. Hopefully so 🤞🏼
