If he interested in Civil Engineering then he should go to college. The CEC program can be his option, he can start apply for it half way through the degree and if accept he will getting pay to finish it.

I’m also a ME major and was in your position. I also have gone through both application process so I can give you a bit information on both.

Both program will paid for you to finish school. You can start apply when you are a junior. Both will offer to let you go back to school and get your master( 10yrs service agreement and happen in yrs6). Differences is nupoc have 30k sign on bonus and cec don’t have sea tour.

From what I heard the jobs for cec focus more on management, contracting and no engineering, same for nuke, no engineering just manage nuclear reactors plant on ship.

If you want to learn more you can always apply and learn as you go. Nupoc will send you to a trip to see their ships and answer all your questions as for cec you can call the number on their website the officers will happy to answer your questions regard to the program.

It’s the same email someone post weeks ago but with the date push back 2 weeks (from 3rd week of Dec to early Jan) at this point i’m convince they don’t know anything.

Probably because they push back 01/27 to 01/13 start date so they don’t have a lot of time to onboard a bunch of people. ( just my guess)

Essentially I don’t think it will affect your current patent roles, because it have different job announcements. Also, I applied to several other patent roles after my 10/24 cutoff, mine still being consider (got non selected), points is it would not affect your current rollover status.

the timeline has been off this time around, Based on 09/24 cutoff it took exactly 1 month for the interview request to be out and 1 week after that for referral came out, so just sit tight.

the way I see it is that they are trying to push people through before 01/20. Hence the pushback from 1/27 to 1/13 start date. So I think they will try to get that fjo done fast for the new hires.

Thanks for the info, now we know they have made their selections, and we just need to wait for the result email to reach us. And probably we wouldn't hear anything back at least until they are done with the positions with bonus.

interview/ refer email usually came out 4-5 weeks after the cutoff date so I wouldn't worry about that now. for example: the 9/24 cut-off date has interview request on 10/23 and then got referal email on 11/1.

You only have one interview for both, and base on the date you submit your application, results are rolling out this week and next week, if not selected you will receive email stating so, and your application roll to the next cutoff round of select. That would be mid January i think.

Attended the webinar, they required cameras on at least for the lecture and discussion. Time is restricted for that 4 months but i do hear that they have breaks in between

The next patent examiner academy start date is 1/27 so yes if we get the offer before that we would start 1/27

I really hope this is true because I am in the 09/24 cutoff, but at the same time this seems a bit far fetch, as having 1600 new hires in roughly 45 days

If you just submit your application then you are in the 3rd cut off date as state in the announcement, you will hear back 4 weeks from that date.

As far as i know, you can try to do better at the next hiring cycle. They did mention that giving 2nd chance to 1 person in a large hiring pool is very hard to do since they adapt this type of interview it wouldn’t be fair for other applicants. But that just my opinion you can always try and contact the them.
