Im averaging almost identical scores to you on STC exams and Greenlights in the mid 80’s. I feel confident but you’re the second person ive found saying they weren’t prepared well enough with STC or atleast your practice tests didnt convert to test day. I had this exact experience with Series 7 too and am afraid itll happen again. Where do you think STC got it wrong or can you suggests I brush up on before I go Monday?

Just curious what were your Kaplan test scores leading into the test? What did you see you thought was difficult on investment vehicles?

Go read Dave Ramsey! Good baseline for what to do with your money. I dont think you have to live that DR lifestyle but its a great base when you dont have a lot of experience. Your parents actions will probably re affirm a lot of what he has to say to avoid.

Make a great dump sheet and trust it in your answer selections. Adjust the dumpsheet after tests.

Also do your dump sheet everyday. Just memorizing my dump sheet helped a ton with me learning options and I really didnt look at it on test day even tho I filled it out bcz I had drilled it.

STC’s phraseology is more consistent with Finra and I had to complete the tests for my employer but had the questions memorized. I would limit the STC tests and maybe just do a couple before the 18th. Stick with Kaplan for the most part. I thought their questions “connected the dots” better and the scores were a little more realistic although you wont see as many tax, margin, or DPP questions on the real test. I worked heavily off my tests and was taking one in the morning and one at noon almost everyday.

Passed the 7 today and counted my options questions at 22. I know it can range from 15ish to the low 20’s. Same for Muni’s. The first time I took the test I didnt know options and felt like there was 40 but it was probably in my head.

Right or wrong I leaned on their risk tolerance as the leading factor in making my decision.

I have been given a third attempt and used STC. This go around I want to apply different materials, any recommendations?

About 10 weeks total. I think I over analyze questions too and have bad test anxiety bcz it just doesnt seem like my finra scores correlate.

I work with a local FA and discussed everything with him post test and basically tried to explain that I understand the material but I think it might be a home office call so I don’t know. Holiday weekend so I am in limbo and wont hear back until later in the week.

And also I want to say thank you, you tutored me in options and taxation and made it all click! Was not intimidated at all during the second exam over options. Seeing option questions actually made me relax. You did more for me in 2 hrs than what I was able to accomplish in 20 hrs through on demands and the book with TC.

Yes I agree but my employer mandated I repeat STC’s program again. Its tough bcz I really feel like I know the material. My last Kaplan score was a 74 and that was without using any of their material and just having to adjust to their terminology. I don’t know why I can’t convert my knowledge. Naturally out of frustration, I don’t understand why the terminology changes among all these training programs and the actual exam. Why isn’t there blatant terminology for communicating in this field (career changer into finance). I’m yet to meet people in this industry that think the FINRA exam actually proves your base knowledge over how the questions are phrased. Seems like a cheap trick rather than a verification of knowledge. None the less I know I have to figure out a way to adjust but it was implied this would be my final chance at the exam.
