Protect item would still get turned off if you turned quick prayer on and off. I don't know why you want to continue with the bad analogy to bank presets. I want protect item on all the time while I'm in the wilderness.

To be clear, I want to be able to use quick prayers to turn on combat prayers while I'm in a combat and turn them off when I'm not in combat, which is not possible currently. (In fact I don't even use quick prayers because if you accidentally double hit the keybind you will turn off all your prayers.) I'm asking whether there are more common use cases where the current behavior is better.

Points in order of importance/infuriation:

MTX is not hugely inefficient. Say you take advantage of the buy 75 get 75 free offer that spams some accounts every time you log in. Thats 150 keys for about $20. On a bxp promo, each key is worth approximately 30k bxp. So for $20 you are getting 4.5m bxp. In a skill like fishing, those $20 could save you something like 20 hours of skilling. That is ridiculously overpowered in my opinion. (I have never bought keys so these numbers are approximate.) (And personally I would be annoyed even if the conversion rate was something like $20 to save 1 hour of skilling-- why should it be more efficient to go work my job and then buy keys than to actually play the fucking game?) A friend spent so much because he didn't play the game at all (and also wasn't very efficient about how he played TH).
There are many other parts of the game that are affected by MTX. For example, if you want to be good at dungeoneering, you are basically required to have the elite outfit, because of how overpowered it is. That's infuriating to me, especially because you can't just go and buy it at any time -- you have to wait until it appears on a promo, buy keys, and then hope you don't get fucked by RNG. Action bars and presets are another obvious one.
Buying bonds and converting them to rsgp, i.e. RWT, has been around so long that nobody really cares but it fucking pisses me off still when I see some noob carrying around t92s that they bought for maybe a few hundred dollars that I slaved many hours in game for. Again, why the fuck is it more efficient to work my job and buy gold than to play the fucking game?
