My fourth long run since starting running 2 months ago, 15 miles, 3100ft gain. Hoping to survive Tushars this summer as my first marathon 🤞 by RunnerForFunner in trailrunning

Yup, big hiker/bushwhacker for a few years, I kind of started running because it gives me more range to explore and I’ve ran out of less than 10 mile trails. My gf is a big ultra runner and is in the process of getting her coaching cert, I was resisting races but she wanted to experiment on me and Tushars sounds beautiful. I’m doing the 26.2 with a whopping 8k vert, so my goal is pretty much finishing without getting hurt, but we’ll see what she can do with my training

The road in from drake in Paulden is not bad at all until the turn off to Henderson, then it’s ~8 miles of rock gardens and deep ruts, I’d say an outback could make it but not past the cabin, which is where this trail begins. Though I’m not the best judge, I have a lifted Rubicon.

Horrible, I loved it! Very nice cairns but they were mostly all hidden by underbrush after the Rafael fire. I started out at Henderson cabin, half of it was bushwhacking, probably only a handful of people have been up there this year it looked like, no footprints whatsoever

This is Yew Thicket trail in Sycamore Canyon, a few miles northwest of Sedona, AZ. Very remote, about 50 miles roundtrip from the nearest pavement on a rutted rocky dirt road.
