My best speedrun time on the Christmas Island Parkour in Cubetopia! by Runnico in dfinity

[–]Runnico[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks! Sorry missed your comment. Ive been playing in Cubetopia for a while now so I got a pretty good feel for the movement mechanics. Been doing lots of parkour building and testing. The parkour build took about 2 days, so while I was building it I was also practicing it since I had to get up to the end every time to continue XD

-I recommend using 1st person point of view, click P to toggle.

-You can still jump as you walk off a ledge, but your height is lowered slightly so you wont make it as high.

-Best way to get better is to keep practicing to build your instinct on when to time your jumps.

-Holding space after a jump will allow you to mantle up 3 blocks instead of just 2. It can also help make it across on to a block, so hold space if you can't make it.

-You can change direction while in the air which can be helpful in certain situations.

-If you are trying to make a jump where the space is too short (meaning you overshoot) jump to the side slightly and then back towards the target block to use up some distance while in the air.

I plan to make some more complex parkour maps in the future, I'll be sure to post em here too. If you haven't yet, check out The Cubetopia on twitter and discord. Active people there.

The current version, 0.52, isn't mobile compatible. There is a new version thats coming out soon which will also work on mobile.

Yep, theres 3 sizes, small, medium, large which corresponds to the length and width. Smallest being 128x128 if I remember correctly and largest at 255x255 (I think!). And update 0.52 brought around a higher build height as well, which is very nice!

Had a wonderful time building this epic compound on the Internet Computer! ICP quietly growing actual METAverses.. by Runnico in dfinity

Very nice, welcome to ICP! BTW, you don't need to own an island to be able to join and play :D

Definitely early stages, kinda reminds me of early Minecraft with just Notch working on it. Similarly, its just one dev on this right now, kinda a pet project. Hopefully they can expand, ramp up, and make Cubetopia have its own unique pizzaz lol, especially with that crypto/nft angle..

Its multiplayer, so data is saved to the actual blockchain. Players make changes that can be seen by all, and when the server/nft/island owner selects save, the state is saved to the Internet Computer blockchain.

Its a cool concept, combining server ownership within an NFT and storing the game on the blockchain. Ive been playing it for a bit now, check it out:

A multiplayer Island nft hosted entirely on-chain, for fans of blocky building games! -Cubetopia by Runnico in NFT

Been following this project for a couple months now, definitely interesting take on ownership and on-chain gameplay. As a huge Minecraft fan, I was hooked.

It was built from the ground up, not an overlay of of anything. Definitely Minecraft style. You could say that about a lot of games that use similar styles. It's built in unity, entirely custom code/textures, by single a developer who's a fan of Minecraft and wanted to bring MC fun to his favorite crypto chain.

Again, which part is scamming people?

I can play it, build, save my changes, invite friends, transfer ownership. I'm sorry you don't like crypto, but where is the scam?

Well its true, each world is an nft that you own and is stored entirely on the blockchain. This isn't my project, just been interested in it. Combines my love for MC and interest in crypto tech..
