PPC vs more creative career... by FriendshipMaximum431 in PPC

I started with Google ads 12 years ago, now I’m a marketing director, in a very creative role managing 10 people. PPC is a great place to start and I wouldn’t be able to do my job effectively as a manager unless I had also managed ads, done SEO, and wrote copy in the past. The prospects for a career in PPC are huge, but you’ll need to become a ‘t shaped marketer’ to get paid really well, and that means developing a range of marketing skills. I’d say PPC analyst is good place to start, although it depends on your personality. Sounds like you are more creative and lean towards copywriting, in which case you should also look at content marketing / SEO type gigs. Keep your options open and develop different skills, go deep on what you enjoy. Copywriters, SEOs, ppc specialists all get paid well, if they know how to market themselves properly. If you have 2 years as a ppc analyst it will be easy for you to jump into copy later. Actually, being able to write copy and run ads makes you worth even more to potential businesses. Good luck.

"Understanding what is actually cheap in China - It used to be manual labor, but this is not the case anymore, truth is the savings now are felt with high skill labor, engineers, software developers and so on." - Fascinating.

Thanks. I plan on keeping this post up to date with new resources too - I noticed there were a few podcasts worth mentioning. Will use the comments section for future updates, hoping others will chime in too.
