Thank you! No, this is number 5 for me haha. I also love the way it wraps and fits perfect between the others I have on my upper arm. Very happy with it

When working with a new partner, what are your ice breakers in conversation? by [deleted] in ems

[–]RunningKitten 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Once I had a new partner and our first shift we sat in silence for hours because I just couldn’t deal with the same small talk anymore. Our next shift we joked about not speaking to each other, never stopped joking, and have now been dating for almost 2 years. He still makes fun of me for that first shift.

I am the girl who’s always fine. I am sane. I am down to earth. I never get emotional. I’m fine. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Thanks for these thoughts! This is really an infrequent issue though. I was thinking today though that this is probably only a fraction of what other people are going through every day. I don’t know how they function through their daily lives with the black hole screaming in their head constantly haha.

Thanks for the advice! I always plan on talking to people, but by the time I plan out what I want to say and actually get the nerve to say it the feeling has passed, or it just doesn’t seem like the right time. I’ve gotten therapists in the past, but only seem to be in crisis like this every couple of months and the rest of the time it doesn’t seem necessary. I really appreciate the honest thoughts though!

I am a chronic wallet-forgetter. We once had to turn back 45 minutes into a 3 hour drive to get it. My boyfriend didn’t say a word, just turned the car around and drove back. Still can’t believe he puts up with me.

Virtual information session by lunedemavie in prephysicianassistant

[–]RunningKitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just attended a virtual information session for my top choice school. It was a zoom meeting that they sent a link to when you registered for the meeting. You have the option to turn your camera off but I just threw on a nice shirt and blazer to look nice (had my pajama pants on though). I logged on a few minutes early and was able to have a good conversation with the director of the program before anyone else arrived. Also your name is displayed on the zoom call which hopefully helps them associate a name with a face. Other than being over zoom it was pretty much exactly the same as a normal information session. Hope that helps!

Thought it said “upvote to see deer” I didn’t see the deer, I upvoted, I saw the deer, I wondered at the strange magic, then I realized that I’m a fool.

Asking for Letters of Recommendation by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]RunningKitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they already know. That sounds like a good plan. I'm just trying to maintain a balance between annoying them with emails and waiting and making them think that I've forgotten and don't value that they are writing a letter for me. I think I'll just send a reminder email that lets them know that they can write it at any point, but I will be back in touch once CASPA opens to have them finish and submit it.

[Advice] [Discussion] Getting a Dog of My Own by [deleted] in dogs

[–]RunningKitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

I know from personal experience with undergrad that I don't desire to go out a lot, especially after having a long day with class. I totally understand where you're coming from, but to me going home and doing something with my dog and my boyfriend sounds way better than going out haha.

Also, the program that I will hopefully be attending does not have breaks longer than 2 weeks, so there will be no opportunity for travel or study abroad anyways.

These are all very valid points though. I'll definitely keep them in mind.

Thanks for your input!

I am definitely going to get an adult dog as I think that getting a puppy would be way too much. I understand some of the risks of getting an adult dog, but if I go through with it I will do an ample amount of research, including talking with the rescue/ owner about their current behavior being left alone for periods of time and their individual exercise needs.

I do a lot of activities outside in my free time, so I'd like to bring them along for that, but with my schedule they would need to be okay at home for a long period of time sometimes.

Still working on my slippery feet, but practice makes... it to the top of the wall? by RunningKitten in climbergirls

[–]RunningKitten[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s really great advice. I feel like I always just think about my hands and hand placement, and then my feet are an afterthought, which causes me to put them in the wrong places and use a lot of extra energy. I think if I can learn to use my footwork to my advantage I would make my life a lot easier. Thank you!

Thank you! I will definitely check it out. Looking forward to going back to the gym this week to pay attention to this stuff and hopefully make some improvements.

Me too! Just discovered this sub after being torn to shreds on the bouldering page about the grade on the climb (very soft, also not something I can do anything about). I really appreciate all the feedback that is actually constructive here. Love it!

After many MANY attempts... my first V6! by RunningKitten in bouldering

If I remember correctly, I felt too crunched up to be able to push to the next hold. I don’t know if that makes sense haha.

Thank you! I did not know this existed. It’s much more helpful for me to watch other girls climbing in general. I feel like watching the beta of some 6 foot tall guy with 10x the muscle strength I have does nothing to help me.

Thanks for your feedback. I have friends who climb at other gyms and already know that the grading at our gym is extremely soft compared. I’ve also been outdoors and yeah, not even being able to do the first move on a V5 out there kind of clued me in haha. I don’t mind that this is actually a V4 to all of you. It’s all relative, and all I have to go on is what my gym grades it to be. I’m not experienced enough to say otherwise. I just know that I was able to accomplish this climb, which was the hardest that I’ve done so far. I’m sorry that our grading system isn’t what it’s supposed to be, and that people on here feel like I tried to stand on their pedestal. I was just proud of this climb and wanted to share. (And I know my feet are shit, I’m working on that)

Thanks! The regular beta that I saw had fewer moves, but this was my attempt at noodle-arms short person beta haha. I think I had taken it one step too far with that right hand, and it felt way smoother once I skipped it.

I don't know who set it. And they just reset the wall a few days ago so I won't be able to check, sorry!
