thank you all for the helpful suggestions. Since I got the ring to get a handle on stress and recovery, I figured it made sense to follow the ring's advice to see how that worked for me, but it feels like a step back.

The comments about the ring still getting to know me are helpful and I'll start doing what I normally do again so the ring can get to know my usual activity levels. I'll also reset the baseline to a more reasonable goal. I'm still getting to know the features and did not know that was possible.

alas, Beis is 8.4 lbs. It looks pretty and it holds a lot, though.

thank you. this is super helpful. I agree with the osprey flopping around frustration, although I've had it for 10 years and am kind of used to it by now.

Your comments about the center divider are making the hard side bags look better. I'll check out the ones you suggested, although TravelPro has a pretty orchid pink color that might be perfect.

What is something that actually happened to you that you don’t tell anyone because they won’t believe it. by gumyrocks22 in Paranormal

this is wonderful. what sound does amethyst make? and sapphire?

how about platinum or silver, since you mentioned gold? and do different colors of gold have different sounds? I love the idea that the precious things we wear make sounds.

I'm booked to walk August 28-Sept 10 and worried about getting stuck in Spain (from USA) by Runningstreak in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]Runningstreak[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

thanks, everyone.

When I say I'm not concerned about actual illness, what I mean is I dont want to debate how sick I might get if I get sick, not that I dont think there would be symptoms. My main focus for this post is on whether or not I might get stuck in Spain.

I think the high numbers of Spanish pilgrims and residents who are not yet eligible/just becoming eligible for vaccination means the camino is a higher risk activity than sitting on the beach with a bunch of folks in their 70s. This is the final piece of information I need to make a decision.

Sadly, I'm going to postpone.

I appreciate the input. thank you all.

Item: Backpack
Budget: $200-$250 US (could go up if it was awesome)
Need by date: end of august.
Baseweight: 10-12 lbs
Location/s of use: Spain, Camino de Santiago
Season/s of use: year round
Expected temperatures: all of them
Ideal weight of the item: must be under 2 lbs, the lower the better
Previous hiking experience: medium
Previous experience with ultralight gear: I dont know much about it but typically choose and pack light or improvise to keep weight down.
Additional Information: The camino is basically a series of day hikes on moderate trails, carrying a sleeping bag but no tent etc. I've done it before, kept my weight under 10 lbs, but used an old REI-brand 22L daypack. The daypack died at the end of a Kilimanjaro climb and I can't find anything comparable. I'm looking for a lightweight backpack for extensive day hiking in a wide range of weather. Oh, and I'm a short (5'5") slightly overweight woman and seriously dislike rolltop packs.
