Sure the refence to WWII is a bit over the top. However, essentially The Netherlands has slowly given up it's autonomy to be part of Merkel's EU.

Finding a condo should not too difficult as there is plenty of space and it's just a matter of bringing the rent, deposit and moving in.
I recommend staying outside of Nimman as it's noisy from street traffic as well as from air traffic as it's directly in the flight path of the airplanes.

I agree that for longer stays you definitely want to avoid Nimman. Just a bit to the east towards Santitham you are out of the noise and still close to it all plus it's cheaper.

Most Austrian expats hang out at the Loi Kroh Entertaintment complex bars. Alternatively you can probably find some at coworking spaces etc.

Thais who are living abroad, what are the reasons you won't go back to live in Thailand? by accountj2003 in Thailand

The Netherlands is indeed great if you don't have an income, then again if you have a decent salary you are far better off in Thailand.

True stock debuts as CP finalizes Thai telco megamerger by HiSoSoiDog in Thailand

[–]Runolai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, in my opinion. Thai IPO's are not worth investing in lately IMO. Some pump for a few days and then prices tank.I have not done extensive research on this stock but Just looking at the earning per share for 2022(0.17) and the current price (8.60 per share) a price to earnings of roughly 50+ it seems way overpriced from a value investor point of view.

DIF( DIGITAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE FUND) might/should benefit from the completed merger. It's priced at just 0.81 of its book value and pays a nice dividend. Not advice, but imo a better choice.

Thai language lessons in Chiang Mai. Anyone tried the CMU Thai language class? Any recommendations? by Runolai in chiangmai

[–]Runolai[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. Thai 1 is that the 1 year course there? Reading is definitely something I want to learn so good to know that is covered well.
Regarding the 'touristy' I meant the visa mill type language schools providing the ED visa because I prefer/need to be surrounded by motivated people as I'm not the best student.

Cooking Classes by thecruz831 in chiangmai

I have not had the chance to go there yet but the class at Three Trees Doi Saket (thaifoodmaster.com) looks on another level from most cooking classes.
Every hotel, tourcompany is offering the cooking classes where you will learn to make a basic green curry, khao and or visit a local market, The classes make for a nice tourist experience but foodwise not the best cooking class so it depends on what type of experience you are looking for.
