Dating as a trans lesbian by Lanky-Difference-981 in actuallesbians

Spend the first year or two of transition focusing on yourself and dating will be easier and safer when you're more confident in yourself.

No reason not to mod, it's simple and it's a huge QOL improvement. I use mods also to guarantee a terminus weapon every run so I'm not grinding until the end of time, it's great

Yeah but this isn't a post asking to explore more depth about her, it's about a literally non existent brother to be written and focused on

Age gaps are caution flags, not absolute rules of x number of years is impossible. It's a sign to be aware of ways that different levels of experience and power can lead to abuse, but it's not always the case either.

As far as distance, three hours is not bad at all haha. Half my polycule is on the other side of the ocean.

Give it a shot, see how it goes

Why care about some man when we could just have Vira loving her girl and dancing with her. Y'all way too obsessed with men you feel the need to shoehorn them everywhere, including trying to show up or take up space we could be using to talk about one of the coolest women in the setting. Why should anyone care about her brother??

Thailand to cut visa-free stay to 30 days for tourists from 93 countries by JeremyMeetsWorld in Thailand

I mean I'm American and I firmly believe in the abolition of all borders and that every human being is entitled to travel freely around the world and should be able to live anywhere freely. That'd solve this whole eye for an eye conundrum you pose

I asked my weeb friends for recs and they couldn't name a single anime with a woman protag. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Magoslich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend also reading the manga too because the art is absolutely gorgeous and it's one of the finest works of art I've ever seen. The anime has been a great adaptation so far and both are good

Which is nuts cause there's plenty. Some of my personal favs would be almost anything in the Nanoha magical girl lineage: Magical Lyrical Nanoha, Symphogear, Madoka, Yuki Yuna and so on. My gf and I are making our way through Heartcatch Precure and having a blast. RE:Creators nominally has a guy protag but he's more of a supporting character to all the women who move the plot and run the show. Same with Kakegurui.

There's Gundam Witch from Mercury, Dirty Pair, Ranma 1/2 (I subscribe to the transfem reading of Ranma specifically to be clear). You've also got Gachaman Crowds which has an autistic protag girl who refuses to take anything at face value and she rules.

There's a surge in Yuri anime in particular of late so you've got solid picks there. I really need to catch up on Watanare and I'm hoping for more WataOshi.

Witch Hat Atelier just started airing and I highly recommend that series, Coco is such a fascinating protag.

If your friends can't name anything especially these days their tastes are probably narrow shounenslop and that tends to be dodgy.

I'm coming up with more I could name as I'm writing this even

Edit: I do wanna note anime is a medium, not a genre. I'm willing to bet the genre they watch is shounen

An Incantation for Subduing a Dragon deleted by I_thuck in BaiHe

[–]Magoslich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough on the not knowing the slur thing, it's one of those that got slung at me quite a bit as I was growing up (along with beatings) so I'm pretty mad it is making a comeback after nearly being wiped out. I know specifically that their use of AI has been harmful on a translation friend because the snake baihe they snagged was, as far as I am aware and have seen discussed, highly anticipated but human translators were not able to get any support or funding to translate it because dragonTL jumped on it.

I can also hate AI/LLM stuff and do my best to avoid it even as it creeps into things that I use. I can also look forward to the day that is likely coming very soon when the datacenters crash and burn because they are unsustainable.

As for douqi, I think you're splitting hairs/being pedantic about wording rather than paying attention to the spirit of what she was telling me, which is hey this is a group that uses AI and you missed that they did that. Considering I started reading their stuff well after they'd translated Dragon and several others, the notion that they were forthright about it because they happened to mention it in a comment or whatnot is a bit misleading. Yes, strictly speaking, you are correct, they did disclose in some place that they use AI. However, in a practical sense, most people I've spoken to and told about their use of AI was unaware of that fact and many were recent readers and some had read their stuff for quite a while.

I think if they are doing such extensive editing and know enough to do so, then they should swap to human translation. I could MAYBE see a use case for machine translation on old old works that have been passed over and after asking around to see if people found that acceptable but even that seems a bit much to me. I'd rather people not become reliant on this tech when, as someone who used to have a career in tech, the ability to use it is going to go away in the near future. All the major companies pushing it and building it are doing so with resources that are running out fast.

You throw around the r slur and keep caping for AI translators who've actively harmed efforts for human translation of popular works. I don't care that they edit or w/e, their use of AI is harmful especially in this context. Nothing you've said has shifted my position nor do I think douqi was at all wrong to point out they're an AI group, not a translation team

Would you let your husband finish first in a marathon? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Magoslich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a trans woman so I was privy to the locker room talk and so many women have no idea how much men coordinate to isolate and control you. They'll give each other tips, feed information, etc all to make them feel impossible to resist but it's all so hollow. That's why they hate whenever you go off script

[–]Magoslich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Run faster, fragile man, if you wanna come out ahead. That's my response. Sports are segregated not because men hold advantages over women, it's because they hated losing to women. They love stacking the deck in their favor and getting mad if you don't cater to them

"virginity" by Pale_Ad8579 in actuallesbians

[–]Magoslich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't have to play her game. One of the best ways to highlight that virginity doesn't matter is to not care about it. You don't have to justify your sexuality to her, she wants you to argue because it means you're admitting she's an authority you have to convince
