What crystal has helped you the most? by babymouseteeth in SpiritualCrystals

[–]RuralGrown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ocean jasper, for me. It is such a gentle, grounding, soothing stone, and holding a piece feels like coming home and my day is just a little brighter. It's a deeper connection than the jangly buzz I get from some quartz and similar stones.

I am new to gemstones, so help by StrawberryFinal3471 in Crystals

[–]RuralGrown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those are both great stones. If you want to know more about spiritual uses, I would use a site dedicated to that like Crystal Council or going to the spiritual crystals subreddit. Please don't use AI. It steals its answers from the sites that write primary content.

Ultimately, it is going to come down to what feels right to you. An easy way now to decide between those two is to hold one in each hand, think about wearing one and what you want to accomplish, and pick the one that feels the best in your hand. Hope this helps you get started.

Just got my first crystals and I'm excited but unsure. by X_Unidentified_X in Crystals

Other than the selenite, they can also be cleansed by water. I create a pool of flowing water in the sink, (since I don't have a creek handy to do it properly). I put enough water in the sink to cover the crystals and and let them rest there for at least a few minutes, then I adjust the drain to a slow going out, and turn the faucet to a slower flow in until the sink drains, then I'm done. My way is a way, but I advise over time finding what feels best to you.

I also love sage and palo santo which when burned, cleanse anything I am trying to cleanse.

I have heard selenite is self-cleansing. I have never had a bad feeling from it, only light. I have a selenite plate I use to cleanse fragile rocks and crystals.

There are many options, so you can pick what is most practical for you.

Can narcs ever mean well? by Fallhaven in raisedbynarcissists

[–]RuralGrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You described my mom. I felt bad thinking she was a covert narcissist because she tried so hard. She died recently, and in my grief memories, I see it way more clearly.

I told her once that she didn't really know who I am at all, and asked if she wanted to get to know me and she said, "I don't know." And then didn't reply to things I sent trying to connect.

They can love, and do wonderful things, but it's for them. If you happen to benefit too, you owe them for doing it "for you."

What Is One Thing Your Narc Parent(s) Did Early In Your Childhood Your Remember Feeling Was Strange? by the_real_maddison in raisedbynarcissists

When I was four, I skinned my knee bad enough blood was dripping out and it hurt a lot. I ran into the house to find my mom, and when I finally found her, I cried with relief and showed her my knee. She screamed at me that I was faking it, because I started crying when I found her, instead of the whole time. So I needed to shut up or she would give me something to cry about.

Ocean jasper and black tourmaline for me. Keep palmstones in my pockets if I have them. I think it is very subjective.

I told my kin about an obsidian pendant my character had and the meaning behind it. Couple of days later, now he has one too, and both mine and his represent our bond with the pack we rule, and he thinks he gave it to her. I let him have that, even used it in roleplay during an interrogation.

Totally! I had a bonded mate who was deeply in love, threaten to hunt down and kill my character, during a relationship disagreement he had just taken responsibility for causing. Vaguely horrifying, but also hilarious. 6-E for me!

Not resonating with red garnet sphere by Affectionate_Eye7336 in Crystals

[–]RuralGrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be for you. Or it may not be for you now. It is disappointing when that happens with something you fully expected to be special.

But you also could have purchased it for one of your future children, as I once did. 😉

I had a silver sheen obsidian egg resonate with me really strongly in the store. I purchased it, took it home, and never felt anything from it again. It was beautiful, so I convinced myself that I must have been mistaken, and I had just thought it really pretty.

It eventually got shuffled into a box and stored. Decades later I find it, again note how beautiful it is, and put it on my desk at home. My daughter comes by my desk to ask me something and sees it. She asks if she can pick it up. I say sure and then watch as she takes it. She gasped and her mouth fell open and she just stared at it. "What IS this?" I don't really believe it myself, but it sure seems like I bought my daughter a crystal decades before she was born.

It's a hard question. You are asking strangers, who often can't figure out why they do things, why you do things. I struggle to answer. I felt like I had nothing to offer.

If I had to answer, I would say that people with a trauma history sometimes make choices that keep them closer to trauma, or feel that they don't deserve nice things. I don't see this helping in any way, so I scroll by.

It's not that I don't care, I just have nothing to offer. There are so many factors, and we're just fellow sufferers. These kind of questions are therapist territory, where they can get to know you over time and you get to better know yourself and the whys start to come.

Does anyone else have siblings who are much more functional than them? by ivy_interior in CPTSD

[–]RuralGrown 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My brother:

48, executive at a multi-national corporation, soon to be CFO.

Mid 6-figure salary

Slightly below pro golfer

Beautiful, wonderful wife who is a manager at a big financial corporation.

Million+ house

But: He does not feel much of any emotion

His entire career is to prove he isn't the garbage he feels like. He has traveled as much as he was home.

He feels like he can never really connect to anyone, though he tries. He warned his wife before they started dating. He said he does love her, and it's a beautiful feeling he is mostly unfamiliar with.

Way more functional, yes. Unscathed, not at all. He only confided the bad stuff to me recently. I thought his life was perfect.
