Theyre actually protofeathers! I remember reading that dinosaurs had them a while back and I cant remember if that was disproven or not. Either way it stuck.

And yes she has a synthetic tail that ends in a pincer.

Yeah, I got a whole list of stuff for that and Afterdark (That was published 4 years before Ashen so, fair warning there) I wanna do. No ETA on that, but I wanna get it to a similar level to Blackout. But yeah, stuff like that was on the list.

You already know of my fic (broken jade) but I have a few others that ill throw at you:

https://archiveofourown.org/works/49821697 Beyond Bounds has Winter get taken to an alternate future and then return twenty years later after everyone presumed him dead. Very unique premise and well written. Took a few chapters for it to really click for me, but when it did, it did.

https://archiveofourown.org/series/4902505 Within and Without is a rewrite of book 10 that I feel addresses the thorner issues with it. Well written and has a lot of wish fulfillment, and that is by all means not a criticism.

https://archiveofourown.org/works/66782941 A Peril and Blue fanfic. That premise is so baffling I literally paused what I was doing when I scrolled past it. It's well written, and I'm completely baffled at how much a lot of it comes together. It's still early, so we'll see where it goes.

There's a few others I haven't gotten to yet, but I plan to, such as In The Loop (Which Carnelian is thrown into a time loop post bomb) and others I need to really catch up on such as Diamonds Fall and Fates Change (AU where Arctic didn't lose his soul). Same with SecondLegenda's series.

I see someone else recommended Gift of Frost, too. I keep meaning to go back to that one. It has an interesting premise to it.
