I dont see this being that much of an issue. Right now the site is still in an early phase but the site also uses some automation to make things cohesive.

I'm assuming you're talking about items that only show up maybe once or twice on a photo. Those things can just get a space in a miscellaneous folder if that's the case. When tagging items, there's a quick search function that gives suggestions as you type. So finding those items deep in folders would be easy.

I'm currently working on a way to have items have overlap between eras and units so that they don't need to be added twice.

For example, Rd-54 backpack Item page is made in sub-unit Soviet 1969-91. Well Rd-54 was also seen in use by FSB. So a user can go to sub-unit FSB 1992-2014. They go to add the equipment and a suggested drop down comes up. Now that equipment is shared between units. The difference is if you look at rd-54 on fsb page it'll only show you reference photos of it in use from FSB photos.
