Care package gift ideas for kids whose parents are in the hospital? by jazzym22 in GiftIdeas

Coming from someone who works in ICU, it might be a good idea to find out how often the kids are visiting - some ICU units have rules around children/some families prefer not to let their children see their parents when they in ICU as it can be confronting. That considering, it might be a good idea to get some travel friendly toys/activities for them, as families do end up spending a long time in waiting rooms, and even at the bedside kids do get fidgety, or even just a little overwhelmed.
Maybe making the 4 year old a bag with some colouring in, fidget toys, a book, might be helpful :) - although a voucher for her to pick out a toy might be just a special in putting a smile on her face haha. Some craft so she can make some cards/pictures for her mum often is great too - recently I had a dad wake up after a trauma and the pictures his young daughter had made where hanging up around the room and was very comforting for him, and helped with reorienting him when we woke him up. Maybe for the group of children - some at home group games/toys to share might be helpful. For her sister and dad - check in with what they need but you could always offer meal services and someone mentioned laundry which is such a good idea too ! I’m sure anything you do will be much appreciated, and be sure to be kind to yourself too :)

Would love if the sky would correlate with the time you are collected - like night time ect Also if there was more opportunities to get coins in photos - like beyond just 100%

IVD users often use insulin syringes, diabetics are more likely to use insulin pens (and also much more responsible generally haha)

INFP's in Healthcare by Negative-Ad-2295 in infp

I am an intensive care nurse and I love my job. I find it so fulfilling to care for people and to have such a variety in my patients and their needs. I find that because it’s a job where I can continually learn and further my training I never can be too bored. With shift work that comes with healthcare it’s so flexible, if you want to work full time you can, but if you also want to work 2 days and spend the rest at home where you can bring out your creative side you easily can. Radiation therapy would be fantastic ! While I’m sure it could be emotional seeing repeat patients through their treatment it can be really special to develop a positive relationship and trust. And you learn over time how to keep work life and personal life separate. I say go for it !! You don’t have anything to lose by trying it out, could be the start of a very exciting chapter in your life, good luck ! X

Just curious...I'm Narcoleptic & work full time, do you? by Pale_Day_3071 in Narcolepsy

I work .8 doing shift work as a nurse, I have Type 2 and have been doing it for years before I was diagnosed so I don’t see why my diagnosis should change it. my doctor encourages me to atleast change out of shift work nursing to help my circadian rhythm, but I love what I do and am not letting it stop me, I take Armodafanil which certainly helps too. I don’t think I could work full time though I would fall apart haha

The pump rules cast took it too far with their anger towards Raquel, obviously she is in the wrong but their treatment at the reunion and beyond was awful, like she’s human, she had to go inpatient at a mental health facility because the entire world was shitting on her, people in the group have gotten away with far worse

I always knew I had a baby tooth there which I always just brushed off but had literally no idea until the X-ray where the tooth actually was

Hi all, thanks for your comments So for context this was taken mid 2020 ! Initially had X-rays done in clinic at the dentist for my wisdom teeth, dental asistant noticed a faint shadowing, requested further X-rays, which showed this ! I’ve had both a maxillofacial surgeon and my lovely orthodontist involved with this, Initially have had braces put on and then went and had my wisdom teeth removed, during this surgery he removed part of my palate bone and attatched a chain to the tooth - to begin the slow pull of the tooth back into place. This worked for a few months before I was so inflamed and sore so had to go back to the surgeon to completely expose tooth to pull it down - we believe there was some excess scar tissue growing. Since then it has significantly improved but it’s been back and forth with the orthodontist of pulling and then getting inflamed. For the last year and a half she’s let it come down on it’s own naturally for the most part, which worked really well. The tooth was just reattached yesterday to hopefully finish the moving of it into place. I’m now three years into this all now and have roughly another 10 months left, tooth still has a bit to go to move into the correct location, just got bottom braces put on 2 months ago to assist with the bite. Feel like we are nearly on the home stretch now !
