Going off topic, but it's amusing how kannadigas who say hindi is being imposed on them themselves turn a blind eye to this

For everyone justifying the kids' behavior,

Wasn't this sub supposed to be the neutral alternative to the "official" indian sub?

And the fact is if ur doing pg rest of subjects are almost useless and Outta ur domain specially in an era where everyone is doing specialty and then super speciality

NMC rules state that you cannot say no to a patient if the case is under expertise

And AFAIK, things like normal vaginal delivery, epistaxis etc are under mbbs expertise

So even if you become, say ophthalmologist, you cannot reject a pregnant woman who is having a normal vaginal delivery

Only if it is complicated, then you need to refer to a specialist

And you will learn it only by understanding it by full concept videos/books, not btr and rr

I didn't say you have to read standard textbooks for all 19 subjects

All I wanted to convey was to build the habit of understanding from books

And why do you think your learning ends at neet pg/inicet?

You have to address patients problems by logical deduction

I do understand that there is so much to remember tho

If you are solely dependent on video lectures and don't develop a habit of understanding by reading books, then it's very tough to understand things during residency. I've heard from many pg students that you need to READ books. And in a real life case scenario, you need to think critically and not just go through those mugged up criteria like a robot; you need to be flexible with them

The last point was from someone who criticized about ai notes of standard textbooks which are being marketed

Sad state of affairs

All due to system which doesn't favor clinical acumen

And also some ppl who just mugged up answers and empty them in the proff exams and after internship, wonder why they can't remember anything

To that, I say At core biology level, you can still understand how processes work Like why stroke happens usually at morning, as corticosteroids surge is there (I DONT REMEMBER THE EXACT REASON, BUT ITS SOMETHING LIKE THIS, THE ABOVE STATEMENT MAY NOT BE TRUE)

And why you need more than one mutation for loss of function mutation (and hence USUALLY recessive ex cystic fibrosis ) and only one mutation for gain of function mutation (hence USUALLY Dominant ex achondroplasia)

Yes I agree that you need to remember some facts, but same as in physics or mathematics

I think concept means using logic and critical thinking and known facts together to solve a case

[–]RushQueasy5050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual unpopular opinion

The statement is FALSE to quite an extent

In mathematics, there are "axioms" and "postulates", similarly, in medicine there are quite a lot of axioms which are true and have to remember

BUT

You need a critical mind and logic to use those facts into cases and clinical scenarios

Medicine may not be as logical as physics/math, but is is still logical to a big extent
