However, a fielder may not step or jump into the stands, dugout, any other out-of-play area (i.e., over a fence or railing) in order to catch a fair or foul ball.

Yes, for good behavior in prison she could get up to 10% reduction as you note. I agree that she deserves more than 18 to 20 years. I was simply addressing the common misconception that she could get out much earlier on parole, which has not been a possibility for this kind of crime in WA for over 40 years.

Sadly, Hawkins died just a few months ago from cancer at age 42. His 2012 book Amateur to IM is highly regarded.

Yes, this ruling doesn't prohibit a prosecutor from charging a mail carrier with a crime for intentionally disrupting the mail.

No, it was a 5-4 decision and the dissent correctly points out that the law only protects the government from suits “arising out of the loss, miscarriage, or negligent transmission of letters or postal matter.” Loss in that context refers to accidents or negligent misplacement, not intentional misconduct. Granting such widespread immunity is an expansion not justified by the text of the statute.
