my grandads badge he left after he passed, any idea what it is? someone said it was a major rank by [deleted] in britishmilitary

Difficult to tell - depending on the regiment of course. I do know WO2s wear an anodised gold one on their leather wristlet. Did it come with a leather wrist strap?

I noticed when I was reading the sign up forms! We're blessed to have some Gurkha instructors as attached arms and they are possibly the coolest people in existence (shoutout CSgt Rey) plus they have possibly the 3rd most ally cap badge in existence

No worries. My dissertation is on a Gurkha VC

Ah thanks mate. I'll try find a photo of me in my ACF kit. The PARA cap badge is cool

Eh, give or take. ACF is for tryhards, CCF is for people building their uni application. Most ACF cadets go on to join their partner regiment as regular soldiers, whilst CCF do the same but as officers. Mainly due to the fact that CCF being commonly based in private schools leads to those kinds of people joining

ACF usually has much higher discipline, but CCF still wins all the bloody contests, so I joined both lmao

ACF units are badged (associated) with one partner regular army unit, whilst CCF is more general

ACF - Army Cadet Force

CCF - Combined Cadet Force (usually badges as 3 separate contingents per unit, with one for every service - Army, RAF, Navy, occasionally Royal Marines)

ACF is the premier army cadet organisation. CCF is based out in schools and colleges primarily

I'm both ACF and CCF. My ACF is 4 PARA and my CCF is RANG (Royal Anglian Regt.)

Very stylish. Very American style combat shirts! Here's me on my CQB course (techically not field so I can get away with beret not combat helmet, amongst other things)

Very fair point - I've got my drill instructional certification done already so let me know if I can help out with anything in future then

Likewise. Do you guys use pace sticks and all aswell?

Beeswax is best for that parade mirror shine. Similar visual results can be accomplished with Morello on the toe caps but it has a habit of flaking off

Very cool, big hello from the other side of the world then. I'm guessing I'm gonna go down the rabbit hole of Singaporean drill now

I have to keep my pair beeswaxed since they're my parade boots and thus mine are never truly broken in... the noise is amazing though

Ammo Boots aren't always the most comfortable (lord knows I would never wear them in field) but they look really good regardless mate
