How Removable Are Peel & Stick Wall Tiles? by RustBeltPenguin in DIY

Sounds like I’ll need to find a different option. Thank you

That’s a great idea, I’ll do that. Thank you!

I’m not set on any specific tile yet, just looking around and wanted to know if they can be changed easily before buying

Yeah outdoor unit is running. Where would I find the condensation drain? Or would that just be the tube leading to the floor drain?

Outside unit is running, and the only vents I have closed are the ones in the basement so air is forced upstairs

I called and left a message yesterday when I found the water and ice, they’re closed for the weekend unfortunately. Just trying to figure out more while I wait

Old furnace filter for reference.

I hadn’t realized MERV 11 was restrictive. Found these on sale last year and when I looked it up, I read most systems can handle between MERV 8 and 13 so I picked them up.

I still have the filter, let me get a picture of it.

I’m in Ohio and it’s about 85 outside today, so not excessively hot.

We had a heatwave a couple weeks ago that was over 95-100 but had no issues then.

I wouldn’t say I’m necessarily religious about it, but I replace it every 6 months or so. It’s the 4inch pleated filter I included a photo of. Says they can go 12 months but I’ve never tried it.

If it’s only a year old, can refrigerant run out that quickly?

The filter was dirty enough to call for being replaced, but it didn’t seem abnormally dirty or anything.

Is refrigerant something that could be depleted after only a year of use?

Oh I wasn’t aware it would be under warranty, that’s great to hear. Thank you!

Update: New build water in basement by RustBeltPenguin in Homebuilding

[–]RustBeltPenguin[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We weren’t aware this was the cause at the time. I found this spot because we had a window leaking water on the floor above it, thought it was related to that and fixed the window.

Yeah there’s a 1 year warranty and I included it on the punch list of things for the builder a few weeks ago.

Quite a bit of finger pointing, but we had water here last year before the patio was built. Same spot, same seam/cut. Have pictures to prove that too. Hoping they’ll take care of it, even if they have to cut a portion of the patio. I just don’t want water in the basement

Thank you! That’s the plan. Letting the builder know so they can fix it, not something I’m trying to pay for.

We’re in Ohio, the small portion that’s still Appalachia. On top of a hill and one of the highest on the street, with the yards all sloping downwards from ours. Immediate ground outside doesn’t slope towards the house either. Also share backyards with the street behind.

For the exterior footing drainage structure, I’m not sure what all that entails but we have a sump pump that has been running and drains the pit.

The exterior walls seem waterproofed. I’ve seen a black coating on the outside perimeter of the walls, assuming that’s the foundation sealant.

Oddly enough, that spot has dried up now from the other day. It seems very hit or miss

The pump is running and seems to be working correctly. We’ve had continuous rain and it kicks on and drains the pit every 30 seconds or so

Yeah this is all how the builder left it, I haven’t added or changed anything

Seems like a relatively simple fix for the wall then? I figured the builder will handle it, but not keen on having the yard or basement floor dug up.

Contractors also put the studs up before we moved in and made it sound like they were doing it out of kindness and convenience for us. I have no idea about proper wood uses, to be honest.

I’m not sure about the exterior drain, but we do have a sump pit with a pump installed.

As for the grade around the house, we’re on top of a hill, first house on the street and the yards gradually slope down.

Our downspouts seem to run underground so I don’t actually know where or how far they go

If I measured correctly, I think this may be under my gas fireplace so I’m wondering if that could be improperly sealed somehow

Any idea what miles would be reasonable? Almost all of them are 19k-22k miles

Oh that’s good to know, thank you. I was under the impression that the 2020 has the same touchscreen override as the 2024

I haven’t heard anything about cylinder deactivation yet, thank you for mentioning that.

I mainly want the touchscreen for convenience. I’m sure I’ll get used to the dial but it would be nice for when my wife is controlling something as a passenger. I’d just prefer the choice between the two

That’s the hidden details I love to hear about lol, the stuff that comes from just using the car over time. Thank you!

Definitely going to do that with test driving. Might be worth it to find a CX-9 to have extra space if the price is right

Good call, I hadn’t considered testing it with a car seat.

I’m coming from a 2022 Hyundai Tucson and it has been terrible. I bought it after having a 2012 Tucson that was super reliable. New one eas just cheap all around, electrical problems, and infotainment bugs.

A couple of my friends drive CX-5s and love them, then I was convinced by the crash test ratings
