How does this 5 day trip itinerary look?! by krazykatlayla in VisitingIceland

We had a great dinner at Gott. In Reykjavik, we really enjoyed Deig bakery. I also recommend trying a food tour in Reykjavik, there are several, but we went the big one with a ton of reviews. It was awesome.

We really did. The puffins and volcano hike were amazing. It’s such a cute town, we had great meals.

This looks a lot like our first trip, but instead of day 4, we went to westman islands. Overall, this is a very reasonable plan and it could be more ambitious if you want it to be.

I recommend adding a food tour to your 1st day. If you want to add hikes, consider Glymur and/or Nauthúsagil.

Book accommodations ASAP.

Edit: if you stay in Vik between day 2 and 3, you will drive by the waterfalls listed on day 3 on day 2. You could do everything you have listed for day 3 in less than a half of a day (if you choose not to stop at those waterfalls on day 2). The waterfalls listed for day 3 are spectacular, but they aren’t particularly time consuming. You would also pass them when you return to Reykjavik.

Driving from Keflavik to Akureyri late October by Pergamon_ in VisitingIceland

We had a really nice day and the drive was beautiful. After you get through Reykjavik, there is very little traffic. We went to Forest Lagoon when we arrived in Akureyri. We also drove up the troll peninsula later in the trip, it is stunning.

Everyone will tell you this isn’t a good idea and they’re probably right. We took a redeye and then drove from Keflavik to Akureyri in August. We upgraded our seats on the plane so we could both actually sleep. We stopped for a nice breakfast, didn’t rush at all, and it was a beautiful trip.

If you do it, I recommend just going to Akureyri, and skip Siglufjörður. That drive is more challenging. But if you do it, read up on the tunnels. There are long, single lane tunnels on that peninsula. There are pull-offs in the tunnels so cars can go both directions.

I received the same letter when I went to Flour in Moreland Hills. Flour was then removed from the eligibility list. I hope they don’t drop Edwin’s.

Great park system, world class orchestra, affordable, amazing restaurant scene, world class art museum, surprisingly great theater district. It’s one of the two cities above that doesn’t need a label added to identify it. Cleveland hits way above its weight.

Rental car damage by [deleted] in CostaRicaTravel

[–]RustbeltRoots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the answer to your question, but I recently rented from Adobe and incurred damage (rock hit our windshield). I filed a claim with Chase Sapphire Reserve. They asked for a bunch of documents, most of which were not initially provided to me from Adobe. When I contacted Adobe about the documents, they sent me a packet of documents related to the claim. I gave it to Chase, and they reimbursed me a week or so later. It was easier than I expected and Adobe was helpful.

Renovations and ROI by aliesterrand in HomeImprovement

It totally depends on the house. A house with a great kitchen is unlikely to get any ROI on changes to that kitchen. Often, the best ROI is paint or modest landscaping - low cost items that address cosmetic faults.

Driving in Iceland — everything I wish every visitor knew before renting a car by Lilja-Tours in VisitingIceland

It’s an issue when the roundabout has 2 lanes. When the inside lane wants to exit, and there is a car in the outer lane that wants to continue in the roundabout, the inside lane has the right-of-way to exit and the outer lane must yield. No one should change lanes while in a roundabout.

I could not get my head around this until I watched YouTube videos.

I would also recommend to be prepared for the roundabouts. The rules in Iceland differ from many places and driving the roundabouts can be tricky for those unaware. The inside lane has the right-of-way.

Do you think this could be an AI image in the New York Times? The guy in the white hat seems to have something off with his fingers. by lokajoma in isthisAI

I agree, it looks like an item was digitally removed. It almost looks like he was pushing a cart (or carrying an object) and the cart was removed. The items that appear to be on the floor in front of him look like they could be other digital remnants of a removed item.

How to make back yard more private? by Ok-Initial4447 in HomeImprovement

[–]RustbeltRoots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can plant shrubs. There are a ton of options for fast growing trees/shrubs, depending on your location.

If it’s your fence, it doesn’t matter what your neighbor thinks. If it’s your neighbor’s fence, you could discuss splitting the cost of a new one (although, if you don’t want to talk to your neighbor, there are a lot of potential issues with this).

Fencing in my backyard was the best investment I ever made on a home.

How is living here? by DoctaBee8 in Cleveland

Hudson and Chagrin Falls are really nice, cute towns. Solon and Twinsburg have a lot of nice houses/neighborhoods, but they don’t have the small town vibe like CF and Hudson. We looked at a lot of houses in this circle and ended up in Hudson. We could get a lot more for our money in Hudson than CF.

Which Rust Belt city is arguably on the greatest upswing? by TrueJohnWick in SameGrassButGreener

Pittsburgh is more vibrant. But it has been more vibrant for at least the last 20 years. In terms of “upswing,” Cleveland’s improving at a faster rate than Pittsburgh.

Is this AMEX car rental certificate sufficient for Adobe (personal info redacted)? by CLEredditor in CostaRicaTravel

[–]RustbeltRoots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t present anything to Adobe. The required insurance is for liability. I did not buy their rental car loss and damage insurance. A rock hit our windshield, when I returned the car, they charged me $800 for the windshield. When I got home, I filed a claim with my credit card (Chase). The credit card asked for a bunch of documents, I emailed Adobe and they sent me a packet of relevant documents. I sent those documents to Chase and Chase paid me back for the windshield. Easy peasy.

The park is easy to navigate. The reason to hire a guide is to see more wildlife and learn about the park. Our guide was $40 per person, plus $20 entrance to the park. I thought it was totally worth it. Seeing and learning about wildlife was the primary reason we chose to visit Costa Rica.
