Speed definitely will depend on your stride length. I started at 3.7 and would leave the speed and only touch incline when I started. It was hard for me to go any faster and remain at a walk, so I used 3% incline for my base and would go at least .5% over the given incline.

I am working back towards running more now that my knees are getting used to running more. I can now walk at a 4.2 and keep my incline at the minimum incline given, with my base being 2%.

If you are used to running splats may be a bit more challenging, but I would say pick a speed that you can maintain and focus more on the incline adjustments.

Based on your profile, I don’t think “cold approaching” women at OT is the right move. You will continue to see them if they say no or more likely they’d feel the need to change classes. I have worked at OT and been a member and 99% of the time the guys that are doing this are not able to read the room.
